Hot Diggity Doggies!

This is the week I hope to clear out all my backlog. Please wish me good luck with that!

So I'm sharing two short videos from yesterday. The first is Shiner going long for a Cheetos pass. The second is a mockingbird singing while the dogs ate dinner (you may need to turn your sound up to hear as it's not as loud on the video as it was outside). The dogs are spoiled--they get dinner and a show!

Even better, I'm participating in Medeia Sharif's fantastic cover reveal for her upcoming novel, VITAMINS AND DEATH.

VITAMINS AND DEATH by Medeia Sharif
YA Contemporary, Prizm Books
Release Date December 10, 2014

Deidra Battle wants nothing more than to be invisible. After her mother, a public school teacher, engages in an embarrassing teacher-student affair at Lincoln High, they relocate to a different neighborhood and school. Being her mother’s briefcase, Deidra joins her mother at her new workplace, Hodge High.

Since her mother has reverted to her maiden name and changed her appearance, Deidra thinks no one will figure out they’re the Battles from recent news and that they’re safe. Neither of them is. Hodge brings a fresh set of bullies who discover details about the scandal that changed her life.

Feeling trapped at home with an emotionally abusive, pill-addicted mother and at school with hostile classmates who attempt to assault and blackmail her, Deidra yearns for freedom, even if she has to act out of character and hurt others in the process. Freedom comes at a price.

You have a nice back yard.
Congratulations, Medeia!
Howdy Carol!! Love those two videos :)
Nice videos. I'm with Alex, your backyard is great.

Medeia's book sounds intriguing.

Shiner could be a great outfielder! Too cute.
Congrats to Medeia!
Carol Kilgore said…
Thanks, all.

Julie - Shiner can catch anything. Plus he is extremely food-motivated.
Jemi Fraser said…
Shiner is awesome!
Medeia is such a talented writer - can't wait for this one :)

Medeia, taking the blog-o-sphere by storm!

I do so love mockingbirds and how their songs are different from place to place, neighborhood to neighborhood. The songs I hear in my yard will be different from the songs I hear from another bird even a few blocks away.

Those videos were great. The mockingbird's song is really something.

Congrats to Medeia!
Vitamins & Death has such an awesome cover!
Lucky doggies - dinner and a show!

SO cute--love animals. And Medeia is awesome--love her cover!!
Great videos! My dogs are all too stupid/uncoordinated to be able to catch anything. It usually just hits them in the face and bounces off.

Also, that's a great cover. But it's leaving me a little paranoid about these gummy bear vitamins I'm about to eat... I hope they don't bring death.

Jemi - Shiner is a total clown and very loving, as long as he likes you.

Bish - I didn't know that about mockingbirds, but it makes sense. When I was a kid, the ones in our neighborhood made sounds like a telephone ringing as part of their repertoire.

Michelle and Beth Ellyn - I agree about Medeia and her cover.

Beer - Our other dog can rarely catch anything. I think they either do or don't.
Carol Kilgore said…
Oops! Jay, I didn't mean to skip you. Meant to add your name in with Bish's and say that I just love listening to mockingbirds sing. Even those that wake me in the middle of the night!

Carol, I LOVE Mockingbirds. They make me feel happy. I have one that lives in the inner yard area and a couple more that live in the pasture and across the street. They're territorial, hence the distance between them.

I like the cover for Medeia's book.

Dinner and a show! I'll have to hide this post from Fido.

Congrats again to Medeia.

I love your dog, absolutely adorable and thank you also for giving me what sounds like another great read, for my winter reading list.

Really enjoyed the videos Carol.
Hope your back log gets accomplished.

Sia - I'm learning so much about mockingbirds here! A pair lived in the front oak tree over the spring and summer, but I don't know if they're still there. They chased squirrels and other birds, and I got to watch some of their babies learn to fly and find food. So cool!

Lee - Yes, otherwise he will make you sign a pledge and you'll be obligated :)

Joss - You're welcome. It's my pleasure! Shiner says 'arf!' :)

Yvonne - Great. Thanks for the good wishes. I hope so, too.

Good luck!

And congrats to Madeia! Cool cover. :)

Took some careful listening but you've got a mockingbird virtuoso there. I suspect other birds consult the mockingbird's report of what else lives in the yard before nesting or foraging.
Stephanie Faris said…
Love that this cover is appearing everywhere but sad I missed the sign-up for the reveal. :-( Medeia is so amazingly talented. So excited to see another of her books!
First congratulations
Second nice yard

L.G - Thanks!

Geo. - I suspect you could be correct about the mockingbird's knowledge.

Stephanie - I agree about Medeia's talent.

Jo-Anne - Glad you like it. Live-In Handyman would happily let you mow it next time :)

Cool dog, and that mockingbird song is lovely. Wish we had those birds where I live.

Congrats on the great-sounding novel and cover, Madeia.
Shelley Munro said…
Love that cover. Congrats, Madeia.

Carol, we don't have mockingbirds. Love songbirds. They always make me feel happy.
Carol Kilgore said…
Helena - Mockingbirds are great.

Shelley - Songbirds make me feel happy, too.

Christine - Getting there!

Love the bird song. My son's dog can catch anything thrown at him - long, short, high, low. If I try to toss something to my poor Sophie, it usually bounces off her nose while she looks confused.

Congrats to Medeia.
Carol Kilgore said…
LD - Our other dog looks confused at a toss, too.
H. R. Sinclair said…
Oh, the pup like the Cheetos! - Kinda agree,

Congrats Medeia.

Dee - My pleasure. Peace to you as well.

Stephanie - Doggies have been edgy the past couple of days, making me a little crazy. Good thing the mockingbirds are still singing :)
