Research - Truth or Lie
This week I'm over at Clarissa Draper's blog talking about some of the reasons I had so much fun writing Secrets of Honor. And no, I'm not telling you here :)
I'd planned to share some views of Corpus Christi, the setting for the novel, but I'm unable to find that memory card. Sigh.
So ... I decided instead to share a few of the things I researched while writing the story.
Theatrical Makeup
The Art of Sculpture
Memory
The Department of Homeland Security
How to Disguise a Bomb
Ankle Holsters
9mm Semi-Automatics
European Capitals
Stage Scaffolding
Diamond Rings
Which of these things is not like the other?
I'm going to
I'll announce the winner here next Monday!
Speaking of winners and Amazon Gift Cards ... you can enter the contest on my website and be eligible to win a $10 Amazon Gift Card. So go on over there and answer the question. That's all there is to it.
Also...below is a signup for the release of Secrets of Honor. I have mixed feelings about posting this because I know how fed up all of us are with this kind of thing. However, since I haven't yet thought of a better way, I'm falling back on what I know.
I'm trying to think of a foolproof way to split up the first chapter into excerpt pieces for each participant, but I haven't had any luck with that so far. I'm open to ideas, so please share in the comments.
The release date is Monday, September 15. You can post the information anytime from September 15 onward. I'm not picky about that at all. And I thank you very much for participating.
My request is that you make this release thing just a part of your regular post. If you want it to be your total post for the day, that's fine, but totally unnecessary. I'll send you the blurb, links, and other things as soon as I have good buy links.
See you at Clarissa's!
Comments
My only advice on the excerpts is keep them short. Maybe take it all from the same passage so that people have to check out all the others who are posting for the full thing.
And my guess - European Capitals.
I'm also guessing European Capitals.
My guess is European capitals.
My guess is "Diamonds."
An idea for your release day... Did you participate in Lexa Cain's release for her most recent novel? That was the one with the cover of her book and something "different" on each site.
What is you took the first few sentence or two and broke it up on the first 10 entrants' blogs? It would be like a word jumble. People could email their answers and everyone who had them in the correct order would be in the drawing to win a free e-book.
You could use all participants but it might be a) too hard and b) too many.
You could give another prize for the person who comes up with the most creative (and wrong) answer if you wanted. Heck, it's your release... you can do whatever you want!!!
Love,
Janie

My guess for the list: diamond rings. Don't ask me why. Of course you realize that a research list like that means the NSA is now watching you...
Clarissa - I'm loving blogging with you. Thanks for hosting me. I definitely will :)
Helena - Cool! Not about THEM watching, but about helping :)
OE - No worries :) I know - it's getting close now. Means I gotta hustle!
Julie
Julie - There was a question?
Honestly, I host the truth or lie game because I stink at it. Truly. BUT, if we're merely looking for things that don't fit...Memory?
I'd love to come help with your hop, but I'm going to be hosting family in my BRAND NEW house on the 15th, plus it's my son's birthday. I'll tweet it though. =)
I can help out, but I would post it on my FB page (which no one sees *sobs*) and link it to my weekly blog post with the cover.
(I'm already onboard with the promotion thingie, right?) (I'm obviously also an idiot... HA!)
Happy weekend!
Rula - Good luck!
Susan - Yep, you're onboard!
what a fun (and very difficult) contest!
i'd like to know more about all those things =)
heading over to clarissa's - yay for carol!
Lee - Yay! Thank you :)
On the way over to Clarissa's place now.
Shelly - I have you on my calendar to guest blog with you on Monday, September 29. Looking forward to it.
