A-Z Solomon's Compass Style: Lulu

Welcome A-Z bloggers!
And everyone else, of course :)
My A-Z posts are all about my new book, SOLOMON'S COMPASS.
Read the A post to learn who AJ is.
Be sure to read to the end of this post for awesome news!

Hi, Y'all!

I'm Lulu.

That Kelly is a piece of work, ain't she? But you gotta like her - she's funny as all get out, and she moves as fast as she talks. I'm still waiting to see that purple hair, but I will tell you I saw it green once.

I'm supposed to introduce myself, though, and not talk about everyone else.

I was born right here in Rock Harbor. Daddy was a shrimper. Mama raised us kids. Five of us. I was the baby. Hard to know that now with all this gray hair. We all grow old sometime. If we're still here.

Anyway, I own Lulu's, a bar and grill on the old highway to Corpus. We serve the best burgers and coldest beer in town.

I run a safe, clean place and don't put up with crap from anybody. Happy hour gets a little rowdy some days, but weekends the place is full of families, kids and all.

The first time Jake Solomon came through the door, I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. If I'd been thirty years younger....

But the first time I saw him with Taylor, I knew that man was a goner.

Oh, well. That's life.

Some days you win, and some days it's somebody else's turn.

Gotta get back to work. It was nice to meet y'all. You ever find yourself in Rock Harbor, stop in and say hi.

õ

Yesterday was Carol's final SOLOMON’S COMPASS tour stop, but the post should be up all weekend. She's at Isis Rushdan's blog. Jake and Taylor put their heads together for this last post, and you don't want to miss it.

And ...
Isis is giving away a Kindle version of

SOLOMON'S COMPASS!

A wonderful read about Lulu. Excellent theme and am enjoying each day.

Yvonne.
I imagine she doesn't put up with any crap!

we do like Lulu, hope she likes us back :)

Lulu... This was my father-in-law's nickname for my mother-in-law. It so fit and has been a cherished remembrance since their passing. (And she didn't put up with any crap either!)

I wish I could visit Lulu's--it sounds like a wonderful place.

Oh, wait...I can! A virtual visit in a book is the next best thing, right?

Lulu you were my favourite character...
What a good deal at Isis's blog. I won't be greed since I won your other novel.
Carol Kilgore said…
Thank you, Yvonne. Stop in and see me if you get to Texas.

Not even from Ninjas, Alex :)

I like everybody, Dezmond, as long as they pay up and don't cause a ruckus.

Good for her! Your father-in-law chose a good name for her, Jeff.

That's what I'm thinking, Linda!

Well, thank you, Delores. Folks around here usually just say I'm quite a character.

The other novel Carol wrote doesn't have me. Or Jake. Or any of the rest of us. Just sayin', sweetie. But it's mighty nice of you to give others a chance :)
Boy Lulu certain has strong voice. Bravo.

Lulu sounds hardcore. She sounds a bit like my aunt on my father's side. I wouldn't have wanted to meet up with her in a dark alley and be on her bad side. Just sayin.'
Carol Kilgore said…
I don't mess around, Michael. Carol picked up on that right away. We'd get to one of my parts and she'd say, "OK, Lulu, strut your stuff."

Robin, you nailed me. Nobody wants to get on my bad side, 'cause it's a big bad side and it has a long memory.

Lulu is making me so hungry right now. Love her voice.

Hello, Lulu!

Have a great weekend, Carol.

I think I like Lulu! Here's to our Sunday day of rest.
Carol Kilgore said…
I don't think I can blog you a burger, Gwen. You'll have to rustle one up on your own.

Teresa, I'll pass on all those good comments to Carol. She'll be happy to hear them.

Hi, Clarissa! Been a few days since I saw you. Carol's out back with the dogs.

Amen, Bish.

Well, Texas Gal...I loved your AtoZ Texas List. I knew everyone right down to ZZTop...they are from around my part of Texas ya know. So was Roy Orbison.

Your characters are very Texan, I'm pretty sure LuLu is a cousin of mine...a couple of times removed, but still kin. None of us take any crap.

Thanks for stopping by today and Following CollectInTexas Gal. I'm now following you and have added you to my AtoZ Blog Roll. Maybe I'll see ya on The RiverWalk...there's a place down there that makes great Margaritas.

Sounds like a no-nonsense gal!
This sounds like a really interesting book! I am looking foward to reading more. I am glad the A to Z Challenge caused me to stop by!
Carol Kilgore said…
Welcome, Sue. This is Carol's little bit of Texas beach washed up on the internet. She'd want to make sure I welcomed you properly. So have a seat and one of the cabana boys will be right around to take your order. I could be a cousin, most likely much removed. I heard granddaddy got around a bit.... Oh, Carol said to tell you y'all might pass each other on the Riverwalk or fight for a seat to get that margarita!

As long as you keep Jezebel out of Lulu's, we'll get along just fine, Laura.

That's me, Nick. And proud of it.

So am I, Janeane. Hope you'll visit again real soon.

That's right, Michael. Mine are just a little higher up than yours :)

Michelle, I like to keep life interesting.

I'd like to meet you, too, Jan. You're not that far away, so come over anytime.

ANOTHER wonderful character. I am caught.

I'd love to stop in and say hi.
Carol Kilgore said…
Sounds like we spun a good web for you, EC.

Trisha, Carol's Live-In Handyman said he hoped she'd take over dinner duty now that she would have a little more time. They were still discussing that possibility when I left last night.

I'll pass your kind words on to Carol. I think 'real' is a good thing! Good to meet you, Dawn.

Carol had a great tour, Tracy Jo. Here's hoping this is a great Sunday for everyone.

Come on over, Old Kitty. A big ol' gray tabby's been hanging around the patio. Y'all can make friends.

OE, you better believe I mean business!

Medeia, you're always welcome at Lulu's!

Lulu sounds like a real hoot. I love that she also has a real story of her own to tell, which no doubt makes Compass even more enjoyable.

I could definitely go for a few beers right now. Beer is good for studying right?
Carol Kilgore said…
Let me know what time you'll be here, VR, and the burger will be working.

Helena, I have more stories than...well, I have a lot of stories.

DWei, of course beer's good for studying. You may not remember what you studied, but you'll have fun doing it!
