Comments
FYI to all ...
I'm going to be out and about most of the day, so I'll catch up on comments and blog visits later.
We need Mr. Darcy.
Alex - I vote for Bourne ... he didn't have that whole department making goodies for him.
Talli - Ooh, Willie Wonka! I think I'll add Captain Jack Sparrow to my list, too. That makes three new men at the second table. Need some more women.
Ideas, anyone?
Joanne - I can only imagine the conversations :)
Laura - You and Aubrie could sit either side of him.
Ann - I'm glad you approve :)
Jane - If they did, what in the world would we do with them all together?
Rick Blaine and Capt. Renault (Humphrey Bogart and Claude Rains from CASABLANCA) would be witty fun. The Nazis would not be invited. But the stunning Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) certainly would be invited.
Philip Marlowe and Harry Dresden could compare private detective methods : deduction versus magic.
Those are just some I'd invite. Perhaps Auntie Mame to spice things up. Roland
Bilbo Baggins, Harry Bosch, Tony Hill, Amelia Peabody, Dave Robicheaux and Ignatius J. Reilly (but he'd get his own table), Reginald Wexford and Adam Dalgliesh.
There!
Oh dear, I need more women.

Thoughts in Progress
Roland - I just WATCHED Sherlock Holmes last weekend. Didn't even think about him here. Duh. But he'd need to shower and clean up a bit :)
Cassandra - Keep a close eye on Holly. If she stands up, stick to her like glue.
VR - I do see the problem without enough women. I think we're now moving into three tables to even things out. See my next comment.
Elspeth - Thanks for adding women to our party!
Mason - Rhett sent back my invitation. Scrawled across the top were these words: Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn.
Hans Solo
Princess Leia
Sherlock Holmes
Miss Marple
Rick Blaine
Ilsa Lund
Captain Renault
V.I. Warshawski
Philip Marlowe
Aunti Mame
TABLE THREE
Bilbo Baggins
Carrie Bradshaw
Dave Robicheaux
Professor McGonagall
Harry Bosch
Amelia Peabody
Harry Dresden
Bridget Jones
Adam Dalgliesh
Joan Wilder
We now have three tables of ten. And three spare men at a separate small table:
Ignatius J. Reilly
Tony Hill
Reginald Wexford
More suggestions?
Clearly, I need to read more books with female protagonists. Stieg Larsson's Lisbeth Salander is fascinating, but not sure I want her at the dinner table.
