Maybe. Maybe not.

Our Boogie's first Gotcha Day was a couple of weeks ago. He got a new toy, a little white squeaky sheep, but he loves nothing better than to go for rides. Car rides are a very close second to food for him. So on his day, we took him for a good long ride out on country roads. He got to see and smell all kinds of things: cows, wildflowers, more cows, a long freight train, and did I mention cows!

I'm very thankful we didn't encounter a snake along the way. It's high season for them here now, but Boogie must have kept them all away. After we returned, my neighbor told me she'd found two in her backyard.

As for me, I'm working on completing the last of the edits for my upcoming release. I was hoping to be done by now, but it appears I edit as slowly as I write. However, it's not always me lost in thought or a daydream.

The other day, I was happily making really great progress when I heard a loud crash and breaking glass. Boogie did a little freak-out at my feet before we followed the sound.

A huge full container of liquid laundry detergent had fallen from a shelf above the dryer and crashed on the top of the dryer. It shook the dryer so hard, I guess, that an open cardboard box filled with three glass candleholders and three candles slid off and fell to the floor.

The detergent ALWAYS sits on this shelf. For almost three years now. Although the container was still full, little puddles of blue liquid dotted the laundry room floor. I have no idea how any of this occurred.

Unless we have a ghost.

Except for the broken candleholders. That one's a no-brainer.

By the time I got the mess cleaned up, I was ready for a glass of wine... but it was only 11:30. So I settled for a short break and another cup of coffee.

May you have a wonderful May, with no laundry detergent falling on your dryer.

Sounds like you have the - "how does this happen" ghost like I do. Happy May!

That's awesome you're finishing your edits for your upcoming release.
Sorry about the mess.
Hope you don't get any snakes in your backyard. I assume they are rattlers or some other poisonous snake?

That's creepy! Glad the damage wasn't worse.

Maybe you need a little help from a witch... :)
Happy Gotcha Day to Boogie!
Looking forward to your release!!
That's the kind of noise that would scare me to death! Does sound a bit poltergeist-ish. :)

How lovely that you are finishing your edits.

Love the flower and the colour :)
Yay for being at the edit stage.
Yay for not encountering snakes.
And yay for minimal damage from your inexplicable event.

I had a hard time following after TWO SNAKES! Yikes! And then more excitement with ghostly detergent happenings. Spooky. :)

Karen - Yes I do!

Natalie - Looking at a July release date :)

Alex - My neighbor didn't know what the two she saw were. Texas is snake heaven, I think. We have diamondback rattlesnakes, copperheads, and cottonmouth water moccasins, all of which are venomous and potentially deadly. We also have a ton of "good" snakes that eat all kinds of pests. I hope to not see any at all because I know I'd panic and think it was going to kill me no matter what kind it was.
Sounds like someone likes messing with you, don't know who just know it isn't me...................

Last edits - yeah!

We get snakes in our yard but they're always rat or king snakes. They eat pests, so we let them be.

Melissa - Strange things happen with me every once in a while.

Jemi - Maybe I do!

Elizabeth - At first I thought someone had broken into our garage. So, yeah :)

Rachna - Yellow is my favorite color. One of them :)

EC - Thanks for the positive vibes. Much appreciated ♥

HR - Welcome to my daily life. I never know what's going to happen. Or when. Some days are crazy for real.

Jo-Anne - Could be. I really don't know.

Dianne - We have those here. I know what they look like, but I've never encountered one. Hope I never encounter any :)

Go go go finishing those edits! Writing is so exciting isn't it, although a lot of hard work.

Happy gotcha day to Boogie and congrats on your last edits. Sounds like your ghost thought you needed a break.

I've been hearing house noises too! But I know it is my fella finally getting the siding on the house. And starlings nesting in the eaves because he took the soffit down. I'm glad my edits are done and my novel is in my hands because I cannot work with all the banging. As to snakes! Yikes! I'm not scared of them generally but poisonous ones would freak me out. We do have bears and bobcats here though.

Denise - Writing is absolutely the hardest job I've ever had. But I love it so much I don't ever want to quit. It's also the best and most satisfying thing I've ever done.

Mason - Thanks. Boogie says, "Woof!" You might be right about the ghost.

Damyanti - It was a crazy day, for sure. I have a lot of crazy days when all the "things that must be done" overrule the "things that are most important." Those days make me crazier than the truly crazy days :)

Jan - Yay for siding and for knowing the source of noises! I once lived where there were snakes, but none of them were poisonous. I moved out of the way of the few I even saw. But here, the poisonous ones look very much like some of the good ones. Snake people say, "Look at the head and the eyes and you'll see the difference." Excuse me, but it's not my plan to get that close.

Sounds like you have a super clean laundry now ;)
(Gotta look at those positives...)
