Inspired to Change It Up

At the end of January, Bish Denham bestowed upon me the Very Inspiring Blogger Award. Thank you, Bish! I'm honored to be an inspiration - as long as I don't inspire you to do mean, evil things :)

Here's what I have to do. In the interest of time, I copied and pasted from Bish's blog:
1. Thank the person who nominated you, and link to their blog.
2. Display the award logo.
3. Nominate at least 15 other blogs (more or less) and provide
a link where they may be found.
4. Then, go to their blog, leave a comment to let them know they have been nominated, and where to find the information they need to accept (rules).
5. Mention three things that inspired you the most during the past few weeks.
Three things that inspired me the most during the past few weeks:
1. Love.
2. Joy.
3. Wonder.
I see these things all around me. I see it in you. I'm most fortunate to have you all as my friends.

I'm not giving this award to anyone. It's yours to take. Post it in your sidebar and be inspired.

It's the first Monday in March, so I'm also announcing the new contest on my website. Y'all remember Colby Marshall, right? She visited the Tiki Hut back in January, and you can read her post about having a hard time relaxing here. This month, Colby is the Author of the Month. She's giving away a signed copy of COLOR BLIND along with a  messenger bag from another of her thrillers, DOUBLE VISION, to one lucky winner!

To enter, click the big WIN button at the top of my right sidebar. It takes you directly to the contest page on my website. Read the rules, Choose the answer to the question about the photo, fill out the entry form, and click Submit.

Winner will be drawn after 6 pm Central Time on March 31.
Contest open to U.S. residents only.

Do you remember way, way back at the beginning of January I told you I would be making some changes in my blogging activity? And they would begin in March?

Well, it's March, and it's time for those changes. Beginning with this post I will be blogging only on the first and third Mondays of each month for the foreseeable future. Or at least until I finish drafting all three books of the trilogy I'm working on. As I'm only about a third of the way through the first book, you can see I need more writing time.

I will still visit everyone who visits me. I'm also still interested in guest bloggers, only I'll fill those slots much more quickly. If you're interested in guest blogging at the Tiki Hut, please email me at tikihuttime AT gmail DOT com

See you here again on March 16!

Congratulations on the award.
Sounds like a good blogging plan. Now, get to writing.

Congrats!

Good plan - you're staying connected while giving yourself ample time to write. Hope the drafting goes well!
It's a nice thought on a Monday morning to think about what inspires me. It's kind of like thinking about what one is grateful for...thoughts that one feel like life is a joyful place.
Congratulations, and good luck with drafting! Writing time always takes precedence over blogging. I mean, what's the fun in blogging if it leaves you no time for your real passion?

Lovely, lovely inspirations. And thank you for the contest info. I so admire your productivity!

I can understand cutting back on blogging while trying to get writing done. Blogging is enjoyable but it does zap your time.

Wishing you the best in your drafting! Congratulations on the award. Some good inspirations.

Congratulations on the award! Your blogging plan sounds wise. I may follow your example if my productivity doesn't kick into gear soon. With the A-Z coming up, I won't be blogging in April. I'm curious to see what will I can accomplish in a month off.

Good luck with the trilogy. Your inspirations are inspiring, BTW. :)

Congratulations on a well deserved award.
Now write. And write some more - which is inspirational in itself.

It is nice to acknowledge things that make you smile. Good luck with your writing and blogging schedule :)
Congrats on the award!

I have been reminding myself to put the books before the blog...not that I don't love to blog, but the books have to come first.

My goodness but we are supposed to remember a lot of things! j/k

Congrats on the award.

Jemi - I'm having a great time with this one!

Alex & Nick - I don't want to lose contact with all my blogging buddies. But I need all the minutes I can find to get this draft done.

Karen - I'm inspired by so many things, but these three cover most of the good ones :)

Beer - Exactly! I love blogging, but it's time to put in some quality worktime.

Shelly - You're welcome. The productivity is finally figuring out what works best for me and a big tube of super glue to keep my rear in the chair.

Hi, Carol,

I hope Colby has fun here on the blog.

Our writing does have to take first place so I understand the changes. I'm posting roughly once per week and even then it's sometimes a struggle and my visiting has become very, very spotty.

Hope the writing goes smoothly.
Carol, I think it's smart that you're being proactive and pacing yourself. More time for writing is always a good thing! Good luck.

That will be an easy schedule to follow.

I'm inspired by wonder. My husband says I still have that child-like wonder even at age 49.
Carol Kilgore said…
Sia - I keep cutting back, and each time it helps. But this is a big move, so I'm hoping I use the time wisely.

Chrys - Love is the best! All kinds of love. Of course, sometimes I twist it around or warp it, but it's still what inspired me in the first place.

VR - My productivity is slowly increasing, but it's been a steep road and I still have far to go to feel like a productive writer.

Jan - Thanks for the good luck wishes. I need all the luck I can find.

EC - Yes, ma'am. Off to write!
Helena said…
Congratulations on a well-deserved reward! And of course you have a trilogy planned--it's an ambitious, smart literary move, and no doubt all three books will be superb.

Wishing you continued love, joy and wonder and easy book drafting!

Best of luck with your projects and I admire your dedication.

EC - Thank you for the good luck wishes. I need all I can find!

Elizabeth - Last year I realized I needed to change things up. I was saying that books came first, but when it came down to time spent, more of that was going to the blog. Writing time was my top goal this year.

Holly - LOL. I should have edited a little more :)

Julie - I have my fingers crossed that it's going to work out.

Joy - Yes. The blogging sword has two edges. Since I didn't want to give up blogging or visiting blogs, I'm hoping cutting back will work.

Here's to inspiration from love, joy and wonder. Can't have enough of any of that.

Cutting back in blogging is a trend. It's too hard to blog so frequently each week and still find time to write your stories.

Congratulations on the award.
Carol Kilgore said…
Elizabeth C - You're right about more time for writing. I believe this is a smart move. Time will tell.

Diane - I'm often fascinated by the most simple things.

Helena - Superb would be nice :)

Rula - Thank you!

T.B. - Thanks. Sometimes determination feels more like desperation. Life is hectic at our house.
You deserve all the awards you get

Nice inspirations. Now go draft...create...write!

I've cut back on my blogging to, for the same reason. Miss my friends, though.

Carol Kilgore said…
Lee - I'm rarely trendy, but maybe I am this time. I agree about inspiration!

Kelly and Jo-Anne - Thank you! Y'all are sweet :)

Medeia - Yes, ma'am!

Julie and LD - I'm having such a fun time writing this one. Feels good!

Melissa - I'm determined to visit everyone who visits here. But I probably won't visit many more until I finish the drafting. At the earliest. I'm not real pleased about that, but it's the way it is.
A hearty congrats on your award :)

Congrats on the online award! I know you deserve it:)
Carol Kilgore said…
OE, Beth Ellyn, and Mark - Thank you!

Robin - Balance is tricky. And HARD!

Congratulations on the award. (You're a lot more succinct with your answers than I was!)

Smart move cutting down on the blogging time. I may end up doing the same. Like VR, I may be taking the month of April off again, too, to see if I can get any "real" writing done. Time for me to decide whether I'm a writer who blogs, or a blogger who just thinks about writing. (Or maybe I'm just a grandmother who enjoys reading what other people write!)

A new trilogy! So cool! I can understand why you want to cut down on blogging so you can devote more time to writing. Wishing you writing-filled days and nights! :)

Oh, and I'll plug the contest for Colby's book on my next Friday Freebie post (Mar 13th). :)
Carol Kilgore said…
Susan - I'm inspired by about a million things a minute, so I figured going with the broad view would be best.

Lexa - Thanks, Lexa. I hope I can keep up the pace it's going to take. Thanks for the upcoming Friday Freebies plug :)

Loni - I just remembered that I needed to change the settings on when comments will be moderated. Done now. Shouldn't happen again except toward the end of the longer end-of-month cycles. Thanks for the good wishes!
