Alex and the Boy in my Dreams
This week I'm visiting Alex J. Cavanaugh, and my post there is so short that I'll give it all away if I tell you what it's about here :)
Since we're speaking about short things, I have to share with you a tiny part of a dream I had the other night. Live-In Handyman and I were at some sort of outdoor gathering, and all sorts of strange things kept happening to me.
This sort of thing is more or less normal in real life, and I don't remember more about this part of the dream.
Then this little boy walked up to me. He was about four, and I can still see him and his face. He had wavy short brown hair that fell over his forehead, dark eyebrows, and large round brown eyes. When he talked, his face was all moving muscles, especially his lips - very expressive.
He wore brown shoes and socks, brown shorts, a belt, and a plaid shirt that was brown and white and blue. He was holding a yellow balloon.
I'm telling you all this because if you know about dreams and what significance any of this has, please share!
This little boy is asking all kinds of questions about me and Live-In. I only recall two of them. He said, "Do you do farm stuff?" to which I replied, "Not so much."
Then he asked, "Do you do beach stuff?" and I said, "We do lots of beach stuff."
Then he was quiet for a few seconds, moving his feet around while he stared at me with those huge brown eyes.
Then he said, "You people never behave." And I woke up. I can still hear his voice.
Any ideas?
Do you have dreams like this?

Have a nice day.
Bummed the two topics of your post title are different though...
Jemi - Glad you liked the Alex post. I have my share of scary/upsetting dreams, too.
Alex - LOL!
Delores - Laughing - I have a black thumb. Maybe I should make mud pies :)
Diane - Not a clue.
With regards to the dream...I have no idea! I hardly dream. Or maybe I do and just forget them as soon as I awake?
According to Google, dreaming about farm stuff is linked to remoteness, security, peace & calm, work.
Now about that boy in your dream. I have a hunch it's the ghost of Halloween future. You're going to have to start behaving on the beach, Carol.
Jan - Happy that nightmare didn't happen!
Linda G - My imagination puts in long hours every day. You'd think it would rest at night.
Michelle - I remember pieces of dreams all the time, but rarely the complete dream. Thanks for looking up farm dreams!
Teresa - I wanna know, too!
Lee - Thanks! Behave on the beach? Maybe that little boy was correct :)
Hart - "Judgmental little whipper snapper." Yes he was! Exactly :)
Dolorah - Pregnant? Ack! Bite your tongue, woman!!! New story idea is a possibility, though.
Love,
Janie
Popping over to Alex's to see you there!
~Jess
Julie
Janie - LOL! You probably nailed that one :)
Jess - I wonder if there are courses on dream science?
Cathrina and Stephen - Thanks! Y'all are tops :)
Helena - He was pushy. He was so serious, too.
Julie - Mini-Alex! Wouldn't that be something.
Romance Reader - I looked up brown and little boy on several sites. Got a different meaning on each one!
Sheena-kay - An underlying anxiety is quite possible. Wonder which one :)
Melissa - I'm sworn to secrecy! I can tell you that last night I dreamed I was in Louisiana looking for pumpkins on Pine Street with someone named Beth Ann. I don't know anyone named Beth or Ann. The only thing I get from that one is I'm wondering if it will be cool enough by Halloween to get real pumpkins for outside, and if so, if there will be any left at HEB.
Mary - Same for me.
Strange - but fascinating .. I wonder if he'll appear again one night .. cheers Hilary
Beth Ellyn - I'm a news junkie, so I limit myself to a few minutes in the morning and again at night.
Hilary - If he does appear again, then it may possibly freak me out!
Cherie - He was like a real kid with a smart mouth LOL :)
Beverly - I've read that we all dream, so you probably just don't remember. I have friends like that.
I do have vivid dreams all the time and I own a dream book.
Balloon- Balloons can represent your love life or hopes and dreams. Looking at the state of the balloon would help to figure out the state of your love life/hopes/dreams.
It's hard for me to find any other meanings because you usually look at symbols, but you weren't at a farm or beach. Hmm...
Leandra - Definitely weird :)
Leovi - Alex is a great guy. I doubt I'll ever really know what that dream meant. If anything.
No, sorry, I don't know squat about the adorable dream boy with the yellow balloon. ;)
Anyhow, I have always had vivid dreams, but I rarely try to figure out what they mean. I just let them entertain me.
I read your book last night. LOVED it. Will write a review asap. (If I don't "forget"... HA!)
Not that I haven't eaten plenty of my words…
VR Barkowski
Susan - Pretty much that's what I do, too. I'm happy you liked SECRETS OF HONOR! A review will be very much appreciated. Thanks.
VR - Likely. Very likely.
I love vivid dreams, whether they're positive or negative. I like to think about them when I wake up.
