St. Patrick and the Dragons

And all this time you thought it was snakes.

Actually, you're right. But I had to get the dragons in here some way on this day of everything Irish Green.

Why?

Because I received the Dragon's Loyalty Award from two of my favorite bloggers: C. Lee McKenzie and Bish Denham. Thank you, ladies! You're so cool to think of me. I'll do my best to come up with seven interesting things about myself.

And the Rules Are:
  1. Display the Award on your Blog.
  2. Announce your win with a post and thank the Blogger who awarded you.
  3. Present 15 deserving Bloggers with the Award
  4. Link your awardees in the post and let them know of their being awarded.
  5. Write seven interesting things about you.
Since I received this award from two bloggers, I'll try to think of fourteen things about myself that aren't too boring. Let's see how I do:

  1. I smile a lot.

  2. I love to dance.

  3. I love to laugh.

  4. I love stupid jokes.

  5. I distinctly dislike beets.

  6. Snorkeling freaks me out.

  7. I love large shore birds.

  8. Especially pink ones.

  9. I don't know how to surf.

10. Or ski.

11. I sometimes make weird connections.

12. I used to make up stories and tell them to my mother.

13. Only I used the names of kids I knew instead of characters.

14. I always got in trouble.

Ta-Da!

I'm giving the Dragon's Loyalty Award to anyone who wants it. Have fun with it.

If you would like to sign up to participate in the June cover reveal for my new novel, you can find all the details and the signup sheet here.

And if you should pass any leprechauns on the way home tonight ...
it means you drank way too much green beer!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Congratulations!
And I don't know too many people who do like beets.
I think I signed up. Let me know if I didn't.
A distinct dislike of beets - now that is a unique fact :) I dislike them too! Congrats on your award Carol!

I like pickled beets but I don't like cooking beets....what a mess. Great list.
Robin said…
Well, the beets are getting all of the attention thus far. My mom makes Harvard Style beets and they are delicious. I think that making something the right can make all of the difference.

I notice that you mentioned snorkeling and surfing. One freaks you out and the other you don't know how to do. Well, I am the same. I would go so far as to say that I love the ocean from the viewpoint of the beach. What is in the water is the stuff of my nightmares. Someone can give me the stats about odds of getting bitten by a shark vs. a car accident and I will ride/drive in the car. BUT I am not going out into the ocean. Not past my knees. No way. No how.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Let the green beer flow!

I laugh at stupid jokes. I think I'm just easily amused.

I make weird connections too. Its something I think we writers do very well.

Congrats on the award. It's always fun learning new things about you.

I like beets!

And, um, you really are supposed to change the names of the people you're telling stories on. Plausible deniability and all that. :))
You know, I say I dislike beets, but haven't tried them since childhood. So I have not idea.

I would love to learn to snorkel.

I love stupid jokes and making people laugh.

Alex - You're first on the list!

OE - Who knew so many people don't like beets!

Delores - I've never cooked them. My grandmother used to.

Robin - I thought I would love snorkeling. Wrong! I prefer the beach, a boat, or a bar at the harbor :)

Stina - Cool!

Diane - Yes! and Yes! for me, too :)

Stephen - You're probably correct about that.

Mason - Thanks!

L.G. - LOL! My mom thought so. You and Robin can have a beet party!

Teresa - I couldn't wait to snorkel and knew I would love it. Not so for me. Hope that doesn't happen with you.

I also love stupid jokes - anything totally absurd. Nice post, Carol! Happy St Patrick's day…and don't let those leprochauns through the door. They'll make havoc in your home! :-)

Congrats on your award! Why were you always getting into trouble?
Melissa said…
You and I are a lot alike. :P

Congrats on the double award. :)

Congrats on the award, Carol! Since you love to laugh, how about a holiday joke?

An Irishman, by the name of O'Malley proposed to his girl on St. Patrick's Day. He gave her a ring with a synthetic diamond. The excited young lass showed it to her father, a jeweler. He took one look at it and saw it wasn't real.
The young lass, on learning it wasn't real, returned to her future husband. She protested vehemently about his cheapness.
'It was in honor of St. Patrick's Day,' he smiled.
'I gave you a sham rock.'

GROAN! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Congratulations on the award! Don't like beets, eh? At least you dislike something that isn't served much. I can't stand mushrooms and that causes lots of trouble!
Bish Denham said…
You're afraid of snorkeling? Oh dear, just when I was going to ask you if you wanted to go with me... I like beets too. Maybe that how those big shore birds turned pink? They eat beats? :)

I can totally picture you smiling a lot (and getting in trouble?) Congrats on the award.
I love beets. But not as much as dragons.
Congratulations on the dual award. Doubly deserved.

Congrats! I love stupid jokes, too. Why? Because they make me laugh, and, like you, I love to laugh. :)
Carol Kilgore said…
Val - The Tiki Hut is currently leprechaun free :)

Karen - I agree that beets are pretty!

Shelly - Because my mom would call their moms and find out none of what I said was true. She still didn't appreciate it when I said it was a story, not real. Before long, she learned to ask.

Melissa - Cool :)

VR - "Sham Rock" ... so bad ... I'm still giggling :)

Sean - I don't like mushrooms either. Nasty little things. Blech.

Bish - Not afraid. I feel trapped because I'm forced to breathe only through my mouth. I have a touch of claustrophobia, and one of the places it shows up is when I put a snorkel tube in my mouth.

Julie - Maybe I didn't smile much when I was getting in trouble - LOL!

EC - Good! You can have my serving of beets any time :)

Linda G - Yay for us!

Liza - Weird in the way that I connect ideas. I never think of the connection being strange until Live-In Handyman asks me how I could put those two things together. To me it makes perfect sense.

Marcy - Where there's a will there's a way!

Randi Lee - It's much better than being a grouch. But I have bad days, too, every once in a while.

Janie - Happy St. Paddy's back!

Yvonne - Glad you enjoyed it.

Well congrats to you and have to say I have never had green beer but then I don't like beer green or other wise just saying

I'm the world's pickiest eater, so of course beets are on my don't eat list, along with all cruciferous vegetables.

Hey, I'm here in Colorado but I haven't skied in years, and I was never good at it. But snorkeling for me is fun. Maybe I should move to a tropical beach... Sigh.

It's great reading more about you. I don't like beets. They remind me of eating an organ, I suppose. I hope you had a great Saint Patrick's Day.
Carol Kilgore said…
River - Yeah...what was up with that?

Arlee - I wasn't in trouble ALL the time :)

Lynda - I tried to always follow the rules. But sometimes I was too tempted. Especially with the stories. But I learned :)

Jo-Anne - My dad refused to drink green beer. Of course, he was German, so that may have had something to do with it :)

Helena - I would love to live on a beach. In a house!

Medeia - St. Paddy's was awesome!

Looking forward to your cover reveal!
I also want to hear more about how you cause trouble! Congrats on your award!

Hi, Carol,
I guess your mother was the first one who knew you'd be making up stories as an adult.

I'm signing up for your cover reveal!

Congratulations on your award! I don't know how to surf or ski either, though I might try cross-country skiing someday.
Carol Kilgore said…
Lee - It was awesome!

Julie - Any more will be a blog post. Or more.

Joy - At first I think she believed I'd be going to hell for lying.

Ava - Cool!

Deniz - Cross-country skiing looks like a lot of hard work to me.
I think we would've gotten along just dandy as kids. Sounds like we have a lot of things in common... except I do like beets.

Congrats on the spiffy award!

With all that nice Gulf water around you, I am surprised that the locals have not talked you into windsurfing. My father sees the same birds as you do and he counts it as one of his favorite perks of living in South TX.

Happy belated St. Patty's Day to you Carol.

Hope you enjoyed your St Patrick's Day.

I like that neon green color. Maybe you should do all your posts in that from now on. ;)
Carol Kilgore said…
Susan - Probably we would have been.

Slamdunk - I don't think I have enough upper body strength to windsurf. Must find a gym :)

LR - Neon green totally reserved for St. Paddy's :)

How cool, or is it hot, that you had the Dragon's Loyalty Award bestowed upon your good self by the adorable celebrities, Lee and Bish :)

Thanks or sharing a bit more about your fine human self. I see you like stupid jokes. Fair enough, I shall send my human, Gary, over to you! :)

LD - I wish I thought so, too.
