The Vanished Knight / Tell Me When
On last week's post, Rula Sinara gave away a $15 Amazon Gift Card to one lucky commenter. The winner is: Keith Wynn at Musings of an Unapologetic Dreamer. Congratulations, Keith!
One more bit of business before going on to the heart of the post. Our guest blogger, Misha Gericke, is having internet difficulties. She will be here to answer your comments when it's possible.
In the meantime, I'll try to keep all of you happy. Except for Monday. I have a couple of things scheduled, and it may be Tuesday before I show up. In the meantime, I'm leaving the cabana boys in charge with explicit instructions for no wild parties. Please don't encourage them :)
This week the Tiki Hut is twice pleased to share two talented authors, each with a new book.
First up ... Misha Gericke, writing as M. Gerrick, with A Vanished Knight.
If you want to see what sort of terror he really is, please check out my book.
Since the death of her parents, Callan Blair has been shunted from one foster family to another, her dangerous secret forcing the move each time. Her latest foster family quickly ships her off to an exclusive boarding school in the Cumbrian countryside. While her foster-brother James makes it his mission to get Callan expelled, a nearby ancient castle holds the secret doorway to another land...

Thanks so much for having me over, Carol!
So back when we were still talking about what should be in this post, Carol suggested that I should have one character from The Vanished Knight interview the other.
I thought that introducing the other guys, James and Ward could be cool. If James plays along. Let’s see how that goes, shall we?
James: *Jiggles knee, glancing around the interview room.* I hate interviews.
Ward: Yeah I know, but it’d do Misha a favor to get it done.
James: Still.
Ward: Pretend we’re just talking?
James: You? Talk? It wouldn’t be natural.
Ward: *Faint smile* Funny.
James: *Grins* Okay. Let’s get it over with.
Ward: Okay. *Thinks* This thing with Callan going missing…
James: *Winces* I made a mistake. It’s kicking my ass.
James: *Winces* I made a mistake. It’s kicking my ass.
Ward: Yeah I know. I think it’s awesome that you’re trying to fix it, though. Do you think we’ll be able to find her?
James: I don’t know. I hope so. Phipps is batshit crazy, so having him be our only guide in a world we don’t know might be a problem.
Ward: I think he’s sane.
James: Really? Maybe I bring out the worst in him.
Ward: You know you do.
James: Okay. Yeah I do. Can’t help myself.
James: Okay. Yeah I do. Can’t help myself.
Ward: *sighs*
James: So. This other world thing. What do you think about it?
Ward: It’s mindblowing. I mean… an entire world is a few miles away from school and we never knew.
James: At least we know why Phipps snarled every time we went near that staircase.
Ward: Yeah.
James: *checks his watch* Do you think Misha will expect much more of this?
Ward: From you? *Grins* Probably not. I’d say she’s astounded that you kept your cool so long.
James: In that case, I’m just going to go.
Color me boggled. For once, he behaved. It’s actually a nice change to see him calm and friendly. He must have decided to behave in front of an audience.
When Callan is forced through the doorway, she finds herself in the magical continent of Tardith, where she’s shocked to learn her schoolmates Gawain and Darrion are respected soldiers in service to the king of Nordaine, one of Tardith's realms. More than that, the two are potential heirs to the Black Knight—Nordaine's crown prince.
But when the Black Knight fails to return from a mysterious trip, the realm teeters on the brink of war. Darrion and Gawain set out to find him, while Callan discovers there is more to her family history than she thought. The elves are claiming she is their princess.
Now with Darrion growing ever more antagonistic and her friendship with Gawain blossoming, Callan must decide whether to stay in Nordaine—where her secret grows ever more threatening—or go to the elves and uncover the truth about her family before war sets the realms afire.

M. Gerrick (AKA Misha Gericke) has basically created stories since before she could write. Many of those stories grew up with her and can be seen in her current projects.
She lives close to Cape Town, with a view over False Bay and Table Mountain.
If you’d like to contact her, feel free to mail her at warofsixcrowns(AT)gmail(DOT)com, Circle her on Google Plus or follow her on Twitter. If you'd like to see her writer-side (beware, it's pretty insane), please feel free to check out her blog. You can also add The Vanished Knight on Goodreads.

Next on the bill, New Adult author Stina Lindblatt, with Tell Me When, her debut novel releasing today!
Here's her cover and blurb:
Amber Scott should be enjoying life as a college freshman. She should be pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian. She should be working hard to make sense of her precalculus math class.
She shouldn't be waking up her college roommate with screaming nightmares. She shouldn't be flashing back, reliving the three weeks of hell she barely survived last year. And she definitely shouldn't be spending time with sexy player Marcus Reid.
But engineering student Marcus is the only one keeping Amber from failing her math course, so she grudgingly lets him into her life. She never expects the king of hookups will share his painful past. Or that she'll tell him her secrets in return, opening up and trusting him in a way she thought she'd never be able to again.
When their fragile future together is threatened by a stalker Amber thought was locked away for good, Marcus is determined to protect her—and Amber is determined to protect Marcus…even if that means pushing him away.
There you have it. Two great new authors - one fantasy and one new adult. Treat them nice!
See you next week.

Uh, the cabana boys are out of control, Carol. Don't stop them, though... :)
Congratulations, Misha and Stina!
Stina, congrats (again) on your book release!!!!
Love,
Janie
Huge congratulations to both Misha and Stina.
Julie
It sounds wonderful!
Thanks, Carol, for having me on the blog today. XOX
I loved Stina's book.
Congrats to Misha and Stina!
Oh and love the idea of the characters interviewing each other. cool.
Huge congrats to Stina and Misha!
Sorry I've been MIA...well, not really. I'm pushing hard on my WIP, and getting close to typing THE END. So I may be tardy more than once this week.
Then I get here, and the scroll doesn't work on this comments box. Anyone have ideas on that? Is it me or Blogger?
It's going to make my life more difficult, that's for sure.
Glad you're all having fun!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Robin. :-)
Hahaha Sheena I'm always pleasantly surprised by how many people like James.
Thanks Elephant's Child, Nas and Julie!
I hope you enjoy my book once you get to it, Helena. :-)
Yeah Stina internet connections always suck. Felt like someone cut off my arms.
Medeia I have to agree that it's most heart-warming.
Thanks Shelley, Tracy Jo, Tara and Rule. :-)
Carol it seems that they changed the scroll, so maybe it stopped working in the transition?
Slamdunk, it's usually nice, but right now we're in heat wave conditions. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.
Hahaha Linda, I'm sure they won't mind. Even if Ward's blushing like a peach. ;-)
Both books sound great! Misha, loved the character interview. Very effective.
And Stina, wow! you're a very busy, well-traveled person! :)
Misha, they changed the scroll? How can they change the scroll? Now I'm off to see if I can figure it out. Thanks...I think.
Yup. My scroll looks different, at least.
Thanks LD. :-)
Both of these books sound terrific, but I particularly enjoyed the character-on-character interview. Very clever, ladies!
Good luck to both Misha and Stina. Here's to much success with these new books.
And thanks for the cabana boy - the younger, more energetic one. (I borrowed him, and will send him back when I'm done.)
xoRobyn
Have fun!
Congratulations Misha and Stina!
