Tiki Top Ten

I'm traveling today and tomorrow, so it will be evening before I get here and start making blog rounds on both days. Behave yourselves ... I know for some of you that won't be easy :)

The top ten things about sleep:

10. It's necessary

  9. Some people need more than others

  8. The Big Sleep

  7. It sometimes brings dreams

  6. Both good and bad

  5. Sleeping Beauty

  4. Sometimes it plays hard to get

  3. Other times it won't stay away

  2. Sleepless in Seattle

And the #1 thing about sleep:

  1. Snore and you sleep alone

Glad I don't snore because I'd hate to sleep alone!

Ooooo-the sunrise is beautiful. Speaking of sleep, I could sleep some more right now.

It has been most elusive for me lately. Reminds me... I need another cup of coffee. :)

As both chronic insomniac and big fan of sleep (including naps), I applaud this post. :)

I like to get in someones face as they sleep and watch them.
When they wake up they either smile and tell you good morning, or wake up punching!

Some people can sleep sitting up. I can't. My head rolls around like a hyper child with a lollipop. As amazing as it might sound, I once knew a guy who could sleep standing up.
Sleep is one my most favorite (and useless) hobbies.

That is the truth! I hate being kept awake by someone else snoring. I remember sleeping in my Grandma's room as a kid. Man, she snored. Sometimes so loudly she'd wake herself up. hahahaha.

I love my 8 hours and keep waiting until, like my husband, I only need 5 hours....when will that happen??

Great post Carol!

I snore but don't have to sleep alone. My companion in bed doesn't have the greatest hearing, and the dogs don't care if I'm noisy. Have a good trip!

Love,
Janie and Franklin
Sunrise on the patio makes waking up a pleasure.
That said, sleep deprivation is torture and I suspect any and every insomniac KNOWS why so many cultures have used it that way.
Have a great trip away.

Thinking there needs to be a "perimenopausal lack of sleep" addition! ;)
Sleep is one of the top 5 things in life. Maybe top 3!!

I love sleep and didn't get much last night. My cat was sick. Siiigh. She's much better now though. Yay. I'll sleep tonight.

Sweet dreams are made of this...Okay, minus the snoring and wondering aimlessly around Seattle when you could be having fun up in Vancouver and find out Sleeping Beauty snores for North America.

Goodnight......

Love it! I wish sleep didn't bring me so many nightmares!

#1 cracked me up! I do wish I had more sleep, but the older I get, the more elusive it becomes.

Last night it was hard to get to sleep, so this evening I'm feeling down. And isn't the Big Sleep a great flick? Very Bogart and Bacall cool.

Alex - I'm glad I don't sleep alone, too :)

Southpaw - That particular sunrise was spectacular!

Luanne and VR - Not an insomniac, but sometimes I need more sleep than I do at other times.

David W - You're a riot! Don't get in my face :)

David O - Giggle :) I've seen med students sleep standing up.
I am one of those who likes her sleep.

Nice list ;) Some very true things on there! hehe
I don't snore, but what about talking in one's sleep? ;)

I'm not worried about sleeping alone (it's far more restful), but the tendency to fall asleep during TV shows has me worried I must really be getting old when I start to have impromptu naps. :O

Lol! I keep getting complains from hubby of my loud snore...I don't know, do I? If I really snore?

Wait a sec...I've been sleeping with a guy who snores for almost 45 years. I was supposed to make him sleep alone?!?

Yay sleep! I'm definitely one of those who need more than others!

Ooh I love that sunrise photo. :)
Snore and you sleep alone - Anthony Burgess' words...

Here's one: "I've always envied people who sleep easily. Their brains must be cleaner, the floorboards of the skull well swept, all the little monsters closed up in a steamer trunk at the foot of the bed."
Ain't those words cute...?

Love your photo! Simply stunning...

It's easier said than done about snoring! The trick is trying to fall asleep first.

A beautiful sky.

I love spending a weekend mostly in bed sleeping. I don't understand people who run only on a few hours of sleep.

I'm back, pretty much. Y'all will see me around your blogs all week now. I hope.

Beer - It's Live-In Handyman's favorite hobby, too :)

Robyn - My dad sounded like a freight train.

Johanna - Husband has always needed more sleep than I do.

Janie - One of my dogs snores.

EC and Julie - I rarely have insomnia, but I sometimes only sleep for six hours.

OE - A true sleep lover!

Mary - Glad you cat is better.

Gary - So you're confirming the wicked rumor about Sleeping Beauty?

Jemi - I hate nightmares. I get more than I would like.

I confess I do snore--not real loud but it's there and I've not slept alone (aside from business trips) in 38 years, lol!

I can get away with two days, maybe three with 6 hours but the rest of the week I end up with at least 8 or more. It keeps me healthy and heals. I don't have insomnia thank god!

Helena - A classic!

Jo-Anne - Mostly I don't like going to sleep, but once I'm sleeping I don't like waking up either LOL.

Oh what a beautiful sunrise! Gorgeous.

I loooove my sleep! That's why it's great to work from home. Can get up whenever I like.

Love these ten points. However, about snoring…I don't have a problem with it…no, really! I find it soothing. I do! What I don't like is people talking, laughing, groaning or making other almost verbal expressions…I just want to know what it's all about and then I wake up and wonder!
Old Kitty said…
Unfortunately I'm the snorer! LOL!!! But my cats don't mind..! LOL!

Hope you had a good trip!!

Take care

Tara and LR - More sleep lovers!

Val - I totally didn't think about sleep talkers. Excellent point.

Old Kitty - Cats are like that :)
