Love these all, and especially #1!

My Mother sounds a lot like your Mother. Fortunately for your Mom, her work in her garden produced a far more bountiful harvest than mine did.

Mama taught you some great things, especially #1.

My mother tried to teach me how to sew. That didn't go so well.

My mother taught me all this and also to sew, cook, keep my room clean and not to back stab people.

Looks like a good list to me! :)

My momma taught me the same things. Great list. :)

Great list! I'm still bad at #9.

I wonder if we had the same mom? ;)

Alex and Shelly - I agree!

David - I'm sure your mom is totally proud of you :)

Diane - My sewing lessons didn't take.

Rachna - Oh, yes...The Dreaded Room Cleaning :)

Linda G and Melissa - I think so :)

Rula - Ballet and walking with a book on my head helped a lot. Of course, now I have a flat head LOL!

CATachresis - Hmmmmm :)

Aww, now I miss MY mommy! She's been gone for almost two weeks to Alaska now. I think this is the longest I've ever been so far away from her. Wow!

Oh dear. I fail at most of those, but it's good to know some people still walk straight and tall and don't mumble! :-)

I learned how to cook as a kid, too. It's a wonderful skill to have. Happy Weekend!

She sounds like a good mama! I learned all those things too!

Linda K - Time for a big hug when she gets home :)

Lexa - I fail, too, but I always hear her voice when I do.

Mary - I use it the most!

Liza - She was awesome :)

My mother taught me all sort of things in proverb form. They come back and haunt me today when I'm talking to my girls. Just one example: If wishes were horses then beggars would ride!

You were raised right. Good for your mama.

Val - I think I've heard that one, too. In fact, I know I've heard it.

Jan - I had a great mama :)
Fantastic list and yay for #1! My mom taught me to respect my elders and to never, ever make fun of anyone for any reason. Have a great weekend :)

Your mother sounds like a wise woman. I wish more parents these days taught the same values.
You are spot on with number 1

Great things to learn... I learnt all my cooking from my mum too:)
Carol Kilgore said…
Words Crafter - Yes! Those, too. Excellent values. Although I often laugh 'with' people, I try to only ever make fun of myself.

Shelley - She was. At least I think she was :)

Jo-Anne - #1 is very important.

tfwalsh - I'm glad my mom was a good cook! Most of her lessons took root.

I loved this. I'm going to ponder my own mama top 10.

Your mama was a good one. Lots of good lessons here. Can't go wrong with any of these. Love all of them!!!

Stina, Medeia, and Robin - The top ten of good lessons :)
Your mama sounds a lot like my mama!
I can remember how no.#3 went hand-in-hand with "children should be seen and not heard"...

No wonder you're such a smart lady; you had a smart mama!

Looks like our moms' lessons were very similar -- but instead of "Don't mumble," for me it was "Shut your mouth, you'll let the flies in!"

Awwww yay for your beautiful mama!!

Take care

No wonder you turned out right! You had a nice mama :)
Carol Kilgore said…
Michelle - I still have problems with #3. Sometimes things pop out of my mouth before my brain even has time to think better of saying it.

Susan - Mama was very smart.

Milo - Funny!

Old Kitty - She was beautiful. Inside and out.

Nas - She tried her best :)

Personally I'm not into God at all, but I like the rest! :)

I'd have to add, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. My mom walked the walk on that one. She could find the good in anyone and any situation. Me? I try but am not always successful. Take after my father, I guess. :)

Trisha - We each follow our own path. Congrats on your music release!

VR - Oh, yes. That was drilled into my head, too. That lesson took. For the most part.
Love the one about "no back talk!"

Julie
Carol Kilgore said…
Julie - LOL! She really hated that. Unfortunately, it was something I was really good at :)
I love these Carol. I need to learn #5 :)
Carol Kilgore said…
OE - I can do #5, but I still have trouble with #3 more than any of the others.
