Here and There - Two More Book Giveaways!

MorgueFile.com
Here we are at Week 2 of March Monday Mania, and this week my friend Ciara Knight is my guest. Some of you may know that Ciara is having computer issues - as in that sucker went belly up on her - so she will be here to respond to your comments whenever she can. In between, I'll fill in the gaps and break up any sand skirmishes :)

Not only is Ciara sharing information about Book One of The Neumarian Chronicles, ESCAPEMENT, she's also giving away an ebook copy to one lucky commenter. To be eligible, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post between now and 9 p.m. Central Standard Time on Thursday, March 14.

The winner will be posted on the Top Ten on Friday, March 15.

:::

Nice to meet all you tan and beautiful people. I’m Greta the bartender from Fallon’s saloon. You guys met his niece, Raeth, a few months back. She’s one tough girl. Guess you gotta be with a hot-headed brother like Ryder.

Carol was gracious enough to allow me to stay in this paradise for a few days while I was checking in with the new recruits for the uprising, and I can’t believe this place. This must be like the Resort Territory Princess Semara is always going on about.

I told Carol I’ve been a fan of her ten things list since our spy, Ciara, introduced me to the Tiki Hut. If it’s good with you guys, I’m gonna tell you ten things I wish we had in the Mining Territory you got here.

1) Blue water that stretches as far as I can see.

2) Fruity drinks with little umbrellas.

3) Hot guys playing a game called volleyball.

4) Cool ocean breeze.

5) Hot lifeguards.

6) Cushy chairs that recline.

7) Plenty of food.

8) Birds that sing.

9) Sunsets over the ocean.

10) Boating.

Now, I’m gonna share ten things I don’t like about the Wasteland where I live.

1) Water that tastes like sulfur.

2) Wine and Verillian Juice that scorches your throat.

3) The queen’s visits to the territory.

4) Hot still air

5) Queen’s pig of a general.

6) Sparse wood furniture with dirty worn cushions.

7) Starving

8) Spiderats and Sermechtapedes that think I’m lunch.

9) Slave collars

10) Slavery

Ten years after the great war of 2185 the queen's reign is threatened by uprisings and fear. In celebration of my sixteenth birthday it is my duty as princess to sacrifice a slave to be initiated into the ruling council, solidifying my mother's empire. When my own erratic powers surface I'm captured and tried for treason. Slaves hate me, my mother wants me executed, and my only chance of survival rests in the hands of a young man, Ryder Arteres, whose sister I sentenced to death.

The Tiki Hut is a much better deal!
Don't enter me - I got to read an early copy, so I already have Escapement.
L. Diane Wolfe said…
I'd take the hot guys over the queen or the general.
Stina said…
Yes to #3 and 5. :D
~Sia McKye~ said…
Sunsets over the ocean are grand and at least they don't bring out Spiderats who like to munch on people. :-)

Like your list of contrast Ciara!
Julie Flanders said…
I hope you get to stay at the Tiki Hut for a long time, Greta! It's such an amazing place, and you are so right about the hot guys LOL.

So sorry again to hear about Ciara's computer, yikes.
Enjoy your time at the tiki hut, Greta! Definitely beats your mining territory.
Carol Kilgore said…
Did y'all see Greta and the new cabana boy, Colt, head back for the dunes? Ciara's gonna have trouble getting Greta back or I'm gonna lose a cabana boy :)
Rula Sinara said…
Characters in the mining territory definitely need to escape to The Tiki Hut!!
Ciara said…
It's a pleasure to meet you guys. Carol, thanks so much for allowing me to stay awhile. I hope not to overstay my welcome, but I'm not ready to leave. :)

Alex - I do agree. Even the sand seems less coarse.

L Diane Wolfe - Yes, they are much more pleasant.

Sia - Yes, you can relax on this beach. I don't even carry a weapon here.i

Julie - I'm afraid the uprising has called me back. I'll be returning to the Mining Territory by the end of the week.

Elizabeth - Yes, it does.

Carol - You told? Hmm...I hope Ciara can keep a secret. Fallon won't be too happy about that.

Rula - I think we should do some RNR rotation.

The tiki hut sounds much better to me. I'd love to win a copy of the book to review. Thanks
Luanne G. Smith said…
Spiderats?! Um, yeah, I'll take a hot lifeguard over one of those. LOL.

Congrats, Ciara, on yet another release! Looks good.
Sermechtapedes? Eeeew, is it as gross as it sounds?
I'll take the comfort of the Tiki Hut and the eye candy too!
Congrats Ciara!
Carol Kilgore said…
Yikes, Greta! I didn't know it was supposed to be a secret. I haven't read your book yet, so I didn't know about Fallon. Maybe he'd like to come here and be a cabana boy for a day or two. I could find some girls to play beach volleyball out there....
Unknown said…
That mining town doesn't sound like a very nice place. I'm glad we don't have Sermechtapedes and I don't even know what they are.
M Pax said…
Spiderats? The only thing worse would be spider zombies. Please, just leave me with the volley ball.

Happy Monday, Carol and Ciara!
Golden Eagle said…
I'm inclined to agree--the Tiki Hut sounds a lot more fun than the Wasteland!
Helena said…
Since the Tiki Hut has hot guys and no spiderats (eww), I'm going there and not to the Wasteland. Except of course I'll be reading Escapement -- I'm really looking forward to it.
The Tiki Hut is hotter than I like (I am decidedly a winter fan) but the Wastelands (while intriguing) are more scary.
Thank you and Ciara for another post which sets my acquisitive fingers and brain a-twitching.
Carol Kilgore said…
Helena - I'm going to probably raise my feet off the floor when I read about the spiderats. And wash my hands after. Eww.

Ciara - I can't imagine how you came up with something like a spiderat. Good job :)
Melissa said…
You can make me a slave as long as I get to sit with a fruity drink and watch hot lifeguards referee hot guys playing volleyball. :P

(Don't enter me in the drawings. I already have and or won the books elsewhere.;)
Manzanita said…
A pleasure to see all these wonderful books being published. My congratulations.
Bummer to have your computer go, Ciara. Mine is on it's way out too and I'm hoping I can make it through A-Z.
Peace
Ciara said…
Good luck, Carol F!

Thanks, L.G.

Michelle, eye-candy is always top choice :)

LOL, Carol. Maybe I hoped he would care. He loves me, he just doesn't know it yet.

Clarissa, be glad you don't. They are nasty creatures with plates around their head, worm like body, and can run on a thousand legs.

M. Pax - Spider rats are so scary with their projecting legs, massive black, red-veined wings.

Absolutely, Golden Eagle.

Helena, it isn't pleasant but the people are amazing.

The Elephant's Child it is HOT int he Wasteland with non cooling ocean for relief.

Melissa, I wish that was a day in the life of a slave.

Manzanita - What is A-Z? I'll have to ask Ciara about that.

Rachna Chhabria said…
Hmm..hot guys and hot lifeguards. Whats not to like ;)
Ciara said…
Rachna - Right?

Nick Wilford said…
Two pretty different lists. Congrats to Ciara.
Anonymous said…
It would be lovely to have everything on that first list.
Ciara said…
Nice to meet you, Raquel.

Southpaw, they are frightening.

Dwei, no worries. We totally understand.

Dezmond, spy. Be careful the Neumarian's will turn on Ciara if she steps up as a Queen. *shivers*

Nick, yes they are.

Media, I agree.
Sounds like a great book, Ciara. Except for the sulfur water and lack of hot hunks, that is.

Thanks for hanging out at my blog the past couple days, Carol. It was a blast!
Emily R. King said…
Intriguing stuff, Ciara. Congrats on your release! And I hope your computer problem gets fixed pronto. :)

Hi, Carol!
LD Masterson said…
Heck, I'd take the Tiki Hut and I'm nowhere near the Mining Territory.

Best of luck with Escapement, Ciara.
Jay Noel said…
Water tastes like sulfur? I hate to admit, but I know exactly what that's like. I will never even brush my teeth with hotel water in certain towns ever again.
Conda Douglas said…
Love the lists! Makes me want to read Escapement today! So enter me, please!
Carol Kilgore said…
Jay - I've tasted nasty sulphur water, too. YUK!!!
Cherie Reich said…
I can definitely see why people would like to stay at the Tiki Hut than the Wasteland. Congrats on your newest release, Ciara!
I loved how you stayed true to the Tiki Hut with your Top Ten lists! Best of luck with your book Ciara!

Julie

Hi Ciara and Carol!

Yeah, water that tastes like sulfur isn't good for anyone.

Susan, our story is a powerful one full of terrible issues, but there is always hope.

LD, smart lady.

Jay, I've been spoiled here. I can't imagine giving up these delicious beverages.

Conda, I think you should be pleased when you open your inbox today. ;)
