Friday's Top Ten

The top ten basics of blogging bliss:
Don't attempt to say this after a glass of wine.

10. Never sweat the topic

  9. Keep all options open and on the table

  8. Smile at all comments and commenters

  7. Meet and Greet with gusto

  6. Think outside the box

  5. Take wine, chocolate, and flowers when you visit other blogs

  4. Remember to say please and thank you

  3. Never slam the door

  2. Be yourself

And the #1 basic of blogging bliss:
Or this, either.

  1. Be a friend

Comments

I bring wine, chocolate, and flowers ... love the post! So true!
Now those are some good basics! Bring encouragement and be positive.

All true. The only thing I would add is don't try to be everything to everyone.

Thinking outside the box is key. Have fun on the weekend!

Yes, be yourself and be genuine.

Okay, tonight I am going to try to say that after a glass of wine!

Good advice Carol. The #2 can be difficult when one sees how many comments and hits others get. But, it is the most rewarding.
Like being a good hostess. :) Love these tips!
DEZMOND said…
what? Well, you never brought me flowers.... :PPP
Laura Eno said…
Excellent tips. #10 is hard for me. I'm repeating blogging bliss in my head - it trips me even without wine!

Good tips both for writing and reading blogs. I'm finding I like to read blogs that are more personal in nature, quick and give me a nugget to think about.
Never sweat the topic? Easier said than done! LOL.
No.#1 is tops!!
Carol, I'm so chuffed, I finally got the Kindle thinggie sorted out and downloaded In Name Only!
Southpaw said…
Oh very nice list today!
Julie Flanders said…
Like Laura, I'm having a hard time repeating blogging bliss even though I swear I haven't had a drop of wine.

Nice list, Carol. Hope you have a great weekend!
Manzanita said…
The chocolates.... well, it's like this, the beautiful box of chocolates was sitting by the computer, ready for delivery and this morning, the box was empty. Must have been those pesky chocolate-gremlins again. :)
Such a good list and if one does all, one will be a friend.
Carol Kilgore said…
Lynda - Yes you do! Loved them all :)

Alex - Exactly!

Maria - Oh, yeah. That's a killer.

J.L. - Thinking outside the box is fun, too!

Diane - And don't giggle when you try it :)
Great list, although I'm not sure I could say 'basics of blogging bliss' with or without the wine. :)

Great rules to live by!
Carol Kilgore said…
Slamdunk - It's the most rewarding to write and read.

Elizabeth - Thanks!

Dezmond - How quickly you forget :)

Laura - I'm not stumped often. When I am, I do something else until a topic pops in my head.

Julie L - My faves, too!
LD Masterson said…
Yup. No argument with any of those. Good list.

Great! I agree with them all. Sorry, I forgot the chocolate, though.

Sending virtual chocolate your way. :)

You cannot go wrong with those rules … especially the chocolate mol xx
Good tips for blogging, and for being a good neighbor, in general. Glass of wine, anyone?

Have a super weekend.
I'm still waiting for my chocolates. Other than that, you certainly practice what you preach Carol! Julie
Carol Kilgore said…
CATachresis - ...with wine :)

Susan - Refill!

Julie - Your truffles should be there by now :)
VR Barkowski said…
Much wisdom on this list, Carol. I just finished the last of the wine. Will champagne do?

Jemi Fraser said…
So very true! I've made so many friends through blogging - it's awesome!
Melissa said…
How about instead of chocolate and flowers, I bring a bigger bottle of wine and LOCK the door. Then we won't have to share. LOL

Great top 10. :D
Anonymous said…
Great advice. You have to smile (wine really helps) because not everyone who visits or leaves a book review is nice.
Carol Kilgore said…
VR - Champagne will ALWAYS do :)

Jemi - I feel the same way.

Melissa - Yes!!!

Stephen - That's very true, especially about the wine :) I've been fairly fortunate so far, but I'm sure to get a few more sour grapes as time goes on.
I always try to smile while barging into someones blog exspecially for the first time.......want to make a good impression but don't we all....

I also like to leave flowers and not just the dying ones I have on the table nice fresh ones to boot.....ok I don't leave them in a boot but you know what I mean.......I hope
It also helps if I take my dictionary with me...........lol

Good suggestions although I still try to be careful about my options.

Not only do I bring chocolate when visiting other blogs, I eat it for those who can't. Yup, I'm big like that. ;)
Carol Kilgore said…
Jo-Anne - You're so funny :) I'd take dying flowers in a boot. Maybe a fireman's boot. Or a cowboy's boot. Sshhhh...don't tell Live-In Handyman :)

Arlee - Should I have said 'legal options'?

Donna - Very true. Maybe they like chocolate or flowers :)

Linda G - Such a sweetheart!
Conda Douglas said…
Oh, oh, well said, Carol--perhaps even after some wine!

And thanks for the much needed laughs every Friday--wait isn't saying thank you on the list? It is!

It's funny what "great" blog-post ideas one can have after a glass of wine. ;)

Feel free to bring chocolate to my blog any time.
Carol Kilgore said…
Becky - Visit anytime! The Tiki Hut is always open...except when we're closed :)

LR - You got it!
