Friday's Top Ten

Questions about the top ten things that make me crazy:

10. Why do people drive slower than the speed limit without a reason?

  9. Especially in the fast lane?

  8. Why are postal clerks so slow?

  7. Why don't some people care about using correct grammar - in writing or speech?

  6. Why are my upper kitchen cabinets designed for someone seven feet tall?

  5. Must there always be such Drammmaaaahhhh about every tiny thing from some people?
None of which are in my life at present, thank you very much!

  4. Why is the empty parking spot you see ahead always occupied by a tiny red car pulled all the way in?

  3. How can people function with clutter everywhere?

  2. Why can't chocolate and wine have their own food group?
I'll take chocowine or winolate or whatever you want to call it.

And the question about the #1 thing that makes me crazy:

  1. Why does the line I choose always move the slowest?

Despte this list that's intended to make you smile or nod over, I'm thankful to have all these minor irritations in my life. It means I'm still breathing :) and have many more things for which I'm extremely grateful.

What's irritating you today?

Avoid the drama addicts. They are compensating for a gray life.
I'm guilty of clutter. It's called my filing system and works really well except when I can't find something.
I hate selecting a line at the grocery store because no matter what, it is the slowest. And slow people in the fast lane are why I want lasers mounted on the hood of my car.
And no clutter. It would make me insane.
I think of it as a gift that I always pick the slowest line. Okay, maybe not a gift. That's the beauty of bringing a book with you to read in the line up. You're guaranteed not to get to the end of your page before it's your turn, especially if you're at a good part. lol
Em-Musing said…
Funny list! I always choose the slowest line too. Hmm? What would happen if you and I went into two different lanes? Would they cancel each other out and we'd move at warp speed?
LR said…
I hear you on many of these.

Why is there always a person in front of me in line counting out large sums in pennies from his/her wallet?

That's all I can think of for now. :) Have a great weekend.

The only way to beat the slow line is to go in pairs. I'll stand in one while my husband stands in another. Whoever gets to the front first wins.
Slamdunk said…
I am with you Carol.

Along with your theme, when I am on the grocery store, I ask why don't people move with purpose? I don't mean to be rude, but when me or the Mrs. are there buying things, it is one of 10 "to-do" items and we need to get it finished.

Some very good why's there Carol.

Have a good week-end.

Yvonne.

Statistics say that the first lines from the sides are always the quicker. I've tried it and it's true.
Linda G. said…
LOL! I always say never get behind me in line at the grocery store, because you can bet it'll be the slowest. I have an uncanny ability to choose it.
Mason Canyon said…
What about the people who leave their shopping carts in the middle of the aisle, walk down the aisle to look for something and give you a 'go-to' look if you dare touch their cart to get by? Love your list. Have a great weekend.

One more.....why do husbands put their dirty dishes on the one section of counter you've cleaned up (or the side of the sink you just cleaned up)?

That's a grumpy list, Carol! But, yeah, all those things are irritating. Luckily I got rid of the drama queens in my life awhile ago.

Happy Friday!

Hubby is finally home so I am good with the world.

Ref: why do people drive slower than the speed limit.

I take a country highway that runs 65mph. If I'm on my way home and have nothing pressing, I will sometimes drive 60 or even 55 to save gas. But then it's a 2 lane road so I'm not in anyone's way. If it was one lane, I'd do the speed limit. I hate being stuck behind a slow poke.
Julie Flanders said…
Haha I am also ALWAYS in the slowest line. Why does that happen to so many of us?

Happy weekend, Carol!
Linda Kage said…
I despise those little red cars. Seriously! My sister has one. She's lucky I still love her.

My answer for number six: I think the cabinet making people are in cahoots with the step stool making people!
Clarissa Draper said…
This is why I never go outside. Great list once again! (Sorry for the bad grammar.)
VR Barkowski said…
Yes, yes, yes! These are awesome. I feel as if I've vented and can now get on with the I'm grateful to still be breathing portion of my day. Thank you!

BTW: How can it be that we all end up at the back of the slowest grocery line? Who in the world are those people in front of us, and did they suffer a slow line to get there?

I completely agree about the clutter, postal clerks, parking spots and slow lines!
I'm with you--especially on number 1!
I'm with you--especially on number 1!

Sean - I'll try to remember their gray life the next time I encounter a Drama Addict.

Alex - Lasers! I want lasers!!

Stina - If I don't have my Kindle, I people watch. And read tabloid headlines if the line is at the grocery.

Em-Musing - Oooh, warp speed. Next time I go shopping I'm going with you and we'll try it :)

LR - Or coupons! Hate coupons!

S.P. Bowers said…
Oh man, I so hear you on the kitchen cabinets. And why do they always seem to be designed by people who have never been in a kitchen?
LD Masterson said…
The Base Commisary (military grocery store) has the right idea on lines - one big line snaking back and forth between the little ropes. When you get to the front, you move to the next open register.
J.L. Campbell said…
Have a great weekend, Carol. Not much of any irritation today, but yeah, I always seem to get trapped in the line moving the slowest.
I'm pretty sure I can relate to most of those annoyances. But I agree - in the end it makes me thankful. I have so many good things in life. :) So far nothing today is irritating me - except my sad lack of sleep last night. *yawn* :D
Carol Kilgore said…
Diane - That is a win-win!

Slamdunk - Exactly! I'm not out there for the fun and joy.

Yvonne - Thanks! You have a great weekend, too :)

Dezmond - I didn't know that. Thanks! Wonder why? I'll give it a try :) Oops...didn't mean to make a rhyme.

Linda G - We're not the only ones, or so it appears. Does that make us all special - LOL!
Cherie Reich said…
I can totally relate! I'd also like to add: why do shoppers at Walmart walk so slow or pull out in front of me when I'm zooming to grab what I need from the store and get home?
Laura Eno said…
I think many of these fall under your catagory of Mo-ron, Mo-ron. :)

Have some rum. You'll feel better. And some chocolate.
Michelle said…
Hehe, we've been looking to move for a while and if I walk into a kitchen and feel dwarfed its a no straight away. Back when I was eating wine I found a dark Shiraz chocolate ... It was good!!! Made in Aus.
Why do morning people expect the world to be out of bed by sunrise?
Michelle said…
Ha... We I was eating chocolate ..not wine lol
Carol Kilgore said…
Mason - Yes! Speaking of shopping carts...over the holidays, someone stole mine in Hobby Lobby while I was looking at ribbon! I was glad it wasn't full. Headed off to get another one to recreate what was in it when I came across it in another aisle. Someone must have realized she had my cart instead of hers.

Delores - LOL! Are they all alike?

Luanne - And I'm really not a grumpy person. But sometimes....

Maria - As long as you're not blocking traffic, go for it!

Julie - We should all shop in the same store at the same time. Get things moving or totally stuck :)
Sticky labels on things - can't get the bloody things off. Drives me absolutely round the bend.

Fun post :)
Carol Kilgore said…
Linda K - Ah, the infamous step-stool makers! I shoulda guessed :)

Clarissa - I ain't seen no bad grammar :)

VR - Karma must bite them in some other part of their lives, right?

Isis - Sisters from different mothers!

Elizabeth - Looks like a large club.
M Pax said…
#1 It's the law here. No one ever drives the speed limit. It's OK when it snows, but otherwise... Grrr

As to the postal service, they have to deal with the general public all day and tape. I bet it's the tape fumes.

Have a great weekend!
Incorrect grammar drives me up the wall, too. Especially when people don't put apostrophes in the right place--there seem to be an awful lot of "Tree's for sale!" or other things like that.
Carol Kilgore said…
S.P. - So true!

LD - Our commissary is like that, too.

J.L. - So glad you're having an irritant-free day :)

Bethany - You know I yawned when I read the word. And again when I typed it.

Cherie - I don't know the answer, but it happens here, too.
Johanna Garth said…
I'm in the midst of a #5 moment and really wish I wasn't!!
Hannah Kincade said…
LOL, other people riding my ass when I'm going 10 over the speed limit in the slow lane, that pisses me off.
Carol Kilgore said…
Laura - You must referring to the mo-rons of #9 and #10 :)

Michelle - I think you found some chocowine!!! Live-In Handyman is a morning person. He's like you describe :)

Wendy - Yes! Especially on the glass of picture frames. Grrrr!

Mary - And why does some tape stink so bad? It's like a fumigator on a roll. Yuk!

Golden Eagle - Exactly.

Jo-Anne Meadows said…
Ok so you are me.........lol because I always pick the slowest line, my kitchen cupboards are too high for me as I am only 4'11" and get stuck behind some idiot driving slow usually they are old men in hats.....
I find it frustrating when people cannot use correct grammar too....lol
Carol Kilgore said…
Johanna - Better you than me :)

Hannah - Me, too!

Jo-Anne - Oh, yeah. It's like that.
Loved those. One of my many irritations is a partner who looks for things with his mouth, not his eyes. 'Where's my?' 'Have you seen my?' And restaurants who believe that they are catering to vegetarians by offering a fish dish. And cats who puke where I am going to tread in it when I get out of bed. Stopping now...
Shelley Munro said…
I don't have any drama in my life at this exact moment, but I nodded my way through your list. I find supermarket lines very frustrating. I always choose the wrong one"
When we were at the airport my husband waited in one line, and I went in the other, because i thought it might be faster. I was very proud of myself for choosing the speedy line only to find that we still had to wait in two more lines for our departure. I also don't like clutter, or slow drivers in the left lane. Julie
Melissa said…
I'm with you and #s 1 & 2. hahaha
Carol Kilgore said…
Elephant's Child - Ah. We used to have a cat. I know how that is. Thanks for following :)

Shelley - Isn't it nice to be drama free every once in a while :)

Julie - LOL! Hate when that happens.

Melissa - Now if we had wine and chocolate in the slow line, maybe the wait wouldn't be so bad :)
Jeff Hargett said…
LOL, you're #9 & @10 are my #1 & #2.
Carol Kilgore said…
Jeff - They're everywhere!
LR said…
Hey again, Carol

I'm gonna do a little post about novels I'm looking forward to in 2013. If you like, you can send me a pic of your Solomon Cover and I'll include it. :) My email should be in my Blogger info.
Carol Kilgore said…
Awesome! Thank you :)
Will send in a few minutes.
Carol Kilgore said…
LR - I should have waited and put this in my other comment. Cover is sent. Let me know if it doesn't arrive.
Misha Gericke said…
Why do bicyclists insist on riding on the ONE road with no shoulder? *facepalm*
Nas said…
Awesome top ten and so resounding!

Why do they make kitchen cabinets so high? As a five foot person, I always have to have a stool or chair to climb!
Carol Kilgore said…
Misha - I don't know. We have bicycle lanes, but they're very narrow.

Nas - I have a few inches on you, but it's a stool or yelling for a tall person most of the time.
Ciara said…
The slow drivers kill me. I try so hard to be patient in front of the kids, but ugh!!!
Carol Kilgore said…
Ciara - Sometimes impossible. One of the 'do as I say, not as I sometimes do' moments.
Lynda R Young said…
Oh my gosh!! Your number 6 drives me nuts (but then, I'm short, so I should be used to it, lol)
those made me smile. And, I don't know how I function with all the clutter, but I do :o)
Carol Kilgore said…
Lynda - Same for me.

Janet - A friend tells me it's not clutter but all the the things she loves. Maybe I just don't love as many things as others :)

Sorry I missed these yesterday, ladies :)
