Words and Music by . . .

My mind goes Texas Music! Blog about Texas Music. I'm like, "I can't blog about Texas Music - I'd be stepping on toes and violating copyrights all over the place."
Then the next idea popped into my head. I know how I can do this.
But...Under the Tiki Hut is a writer's blog for readers and writers, not a music blog. While most of us probably do like music, it's a safe bet that our tastes span the spectrum.

There are a lot of us!
So I decided to blog about well-known Texas writers.
Still a lot!
Well-known Texas novelists. Huh? Google gave me the two-headed look. C'mon Google! Maybe we didn't create Harry or Bella or Peeta, but a few Texas novelists may be a little upset to learn their names aren't on such a list.
Worse for me, I still don't have a blog topic.
But that mockingbird is still singing and keeping me happy. Maybe that's all I need on a fine Monday morning.

Thoughts in Progress
Have a happy Monday!
Have you heard of The Austin Lounge Lizards? Great group. One of my favorite songs of theirs is called "One More Stupid Song about Texas." Makes me laugh every time.
I know a Texas writer if you need one - Helen Ginger!
A Texan who has name recognition in military writer circles, but his talents have been mostly forgotten is author John Thomason (he died in 1944). His collection of pre WWII Marine Corps stories in which he also includes his own sketches, is a worthy read.
happy Monday
Yvonne.
Delores - Mockingbirds are everywhere you turn here.
Joanne - Would that be a Chocolate Chirp?
Anna - I'm happy you think so :)
Liza - Good thing since it's all I had!
Rula - There ya go!
Talli - We have lots of blue skies here :)
Tami - Yep, gotta love them or they'll make you crazy :)
J.L. - Let's hope so!
Happy Monday!
Slamdunk - I'm not familiar with him, but I'll check him out. Thanks!
Karen - I need blog topics - always :)
Linda K - I didn't know she was from Kansas!
LR - I'm loving spring, too. In the summer, mockingbirds sometimes sing at night.
Um, how about Larry McMurtry for a famous writer in Texas? He was born near Wichita Falls if my memory serves me correctly.
Jennifer - I did!
Emily - I do know of a few who live here, but don't know if they are from here or if they've lived here long.
Yvonne - Thanks :)
Margo - You have a great week, too!
Happy Spring!
Donna V.
Colette - Thanks :) I remember doing just that every time I look at it, too.
Karen - Wonderful :)
Lydia - Good idea - a couple of famous ones here or nearby, I think.
Romance Book Haven - Maybe I'll get it together enough in a week or so.
Jeremy - I have been on Mockingbird in Dallas, but I haven't been to Dallas in a long time. I didn't know where Larry McMurtry was from - thanks. He lives out around Alpine or Marfa now, I think.
Shirley - I love blue sky, too. Today ours is white. And may be wet in a bit.
Donna - Enjoy!
Good luck with finding a good topic. :-)
Brenda - Glad you enjoyed this.
Misha - I was only looking for a topic for one day. I'm pretty loose about topics, if you couldn't tell :)
