Friday's Top Ten

UPDATE: I just banged my head against the wall. Guess what I forgot? Only my second favorite green food item in the world ... guacamole! It's a wildcard. Use it to take off your least favorite green food item from the list. And did you hear? Heinz has packaged Green Ketchup in honor of old St. Paddy himself :)

= = = = = = = = = =

The top ten green foods for St. Patrick's Day:

10. Cabbage

  9. Spinach

  8. Celery

  7. Kale

  6. Broccoli

  5. Honeydew

  4. Lime Jell-O

  3. Kiwi

  2. Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

And the #1 green food for St. Patrick's Day:

  1. Green Beer

Happy St Patricks Day.
Mint chip ice cream. Yum.

Lime jell-o, oh what memories! I would not have thought of St.Patrick`s Day if you hadn`t mentioned it, it is not a special day in Germany. Not even in Southern Catholic areas, I think. We consider it just an Irish celebration, but of course the US are full of Irish folks. Much fun, and I can only add my green crocheted dragon, as seen on my latest blog post.

Oh please take off the green Jello! Even after what seems like a million years, the memory makes me cringe! I'll just double up on the mint chocolate chip ice cream! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Mint choc chip ice cream is the only thing on the list I like - oh, and kiwis - but not together! I'll take the ice cream please.

I have a lot of those things on hand year around, Carol.

My brother's absolute favorite holiday is StPaddys. He has a yearly party with lots of food, music, and lots of family and friends. We'll be heading down there tomorrow.

Love the pic. I could sit out there and enjoy the sound of the water swooshing. :-)

I just love that view! Please tell me you did not take that photo? I think I'll be turning Hulk green if the answer is 'yes'!

I'm curious though? Why is St. Patrick's Day so big in the US?
Carol Kilgore said…
Sia - Enjoy your brother's St. Paddy's Party. Sounds fun!

Conda - None of the soda bread I've eaten was green. I love it, too. It would work great with green food coloring :)

Christine - Very cool! Fun for all and tasty, too :)

Medeia - Something for everyone!

Mark - Well, you'll be Hulk green just in time to march in the St. Paddy's Day parade. I took the header photo last April in Galveston, Texas. I'm happy you like it :)
Carol Kilgore said…
Oops! I forgot to respond to Mark K's question about why St. Patrick's Day is so celebrated in the U.S. I don't really know. Probably because many, many Irish immigrants came here in the 1800s, and their St. Patrick celebrations carried into the mainstream. If anyone knows for sure, please chime in.
I'm torn between chocolate mint ice cream and a Shamrock Shake! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Julie
