Beautiful, but I'm ready for summer or a beach like this!

That crocus sprout is a sure sign that Spring is coming ... Still a long way off here in New England, with snow falling today ... Happy Friday :)

Lovely list. Having spent most of my life in California, winter is still magic to me. I love it's stark beauty. And if there's a kiss snow, even better!
VR Barkowski saidā€¦
Uh, that should say kiss OF snow. I like snow, but we've never snogged. :)

Candle glow and winter sky, are my favorites from that list.

Where I live, the winter colors are more like the ones in the photo at the top of your blog. So far I'm not missing that kiss of snow:)

Frozen noses isn't a color? Good list as always!

#8 Icicle Shimmer sounds like a paint swatch color. Very pretty sounding!

Lovely winter colors! Gotta enjoy every season. :)

These are wonderful! I wish the winters around here looked like that. Here is more grey clouds and splashes of raindrops in puddles.

Great list! It's funny, since I grew up in San Diego, but those are still my mindset for winter. I'm not sure if I could ever adapt to the southern hemisphere, with Dec and the holidays being the height of summer.

Everyone - I'm glad you enjoyed the list and see that winter does have color even though it may be shades of gray. I've been out experiencing one of my Christmas gifts most of the day, so things are running later than normal.

San Antonio has yo-yo winters. It's 70 today and sunny. Rain is forecast tomorrow. And arctic cold for most of next week. Brrr.

most excellent list - I like candle glow and juniper -nice colours...
we have 'wet smudge' 'angry driver'

Wonderful ten! I can see those colors at each turn.

I can't wait for the crocus. Is that bad, since it's only January?

What a terrific list. I think we might get our kiss of snow here in East Texas this weekend. I like the snow, so I'm kind of hoping, as long as it isn't a ton of wet snow that breaks branches on my pine trees.
Today seemed drab and dreary to me, and I think that I wasn't really paying enough *attention* to all the life and colors that were actually out there. Thanks for this beautiful post...it got me thinking. :)
Carol Kilgore saidā€¦
Jan - We'll have plenty of wet smudge around here over the weekend, so they say.

Holly and Gail - Thanks.

Lydia - Not bad. I'm ready for spring, too. I want to make a new rule that it should arrive before the end of January :)

Maryann - Enjoy your kiss of snow if it arrives.

Elizabeth - Very good!

I love your colour descriptions though Crocus sprout conjures up some odd images of brussel sprout- crocus hybrid LOL! :O)

Madeleine - I laughed out loud! Love it. Food for your eyes and your body!

Carol - Great top 10. Hope your weekend is fantastic.

RaShelle - Hope yours is wonderful, too.

These are great! Some of them would also make great lip gloss names, lol!
Shirley saidā€¦
I didn't see "dreary" on your list. I hate winter. It's cold! That's a word that should be removed from the English language.

Bring on Spring.

This is such a fun blog! Why did my mouth water when I read the colors?
Talk about a mixed-up person!!!
Blessings,
Patti

I was thinking the exact same thing as Words Crafter: makeup names.

Have a great week.

Words Crafter - Color is color, in nature or on our faces.

Shirley - Maybe it's all in how we see things ala "beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Patti - Maybe it's those mouthwatering holly berries - LOL

Medeia - Maybe I should check the job openings for make-up product namer.
