Grab and Go
My Monday posts have something to do with writing. Friday's are Top Ten lists. Wednesday is a grab bag.
Today when I reached my hand in, I pulled out . . .
Pistachios
Did you know they're related to cashews, mangoes, and poison ivy?
E-Readers
Does anyone have an e-reader?
If so, what kind?
What do you like best about it?
What do you wish it would do that it doesn't?
and
Location, Location, Location
City, small town, or country?
Mountains or beach?
What's your favorite?
For living and for vacationing.
Separate from the grab bag, last Friday Lydia Kang at The Word Is My Oyster created a brand new award.
In Lydia's own words:
So . . . what Lydia said. Except the headache part - LOL.
It's free to all of you as well if you missed it at her blog. And if you did miss it, shame on you :) Get over to Lydia's and check out her great blog - especially Medical Mondays.

Comments
EReader - Don't have one, but plan on buying one. I'll probably choose Amazon's Kindle because it seems to have the largest library of ebooks to choose from.
Location - To live in ... Small town, with close proximity to several major cities. Vacation ... the beach, always and ever.
No E-Reader for me. My best friend has a Kindle and an IPad and loves both.
Location - I love living in the country and for vacation love visiting Texas.

And I had NO idea pistachios were related to all three of those things. How fasinating. I wonder if someone allergic to Poison Ivy is allergic to pistachios too. Boy, if you were allergic to poison Ivy AND nuts, you'd really want to stay away.
No ereader for me. But I'd like to try a Kindle. Actually, I'd like to try any of them.
Location: Country Living, Beach and Mountain visiting.
Well, you know the answer to location now. Omaha!
Thanks for the shout out. And that award is only giving me a little headache today, ha ha ha!
Location: living in a very very small town now and liking it. Vacation--just about anywhere; favorite would be a cruise.

Love Lydia's award!
I didn't know about pistachios and poison ivy!
Kindle! I LOVE my Kindle. I can change the font size, shop and download books instantly, carry hundreds of titles with me, the pages don't fall out of the book, my thumbs don't hurt from holding the book open, I can read one-handed or while on a treadmill...is that enough? :)
Favorite place to live would be on a cruise ship. Talk about having my cake and eating it too! To live in my own apt but wake up somewhere different each day!
Mason - I don't have an ereader yet, either. Yea for Texas!
Karen - I want an ereader, but I don't know which one. I sort of think they haven't made the one I want yet.
Linda - I wondered the same thing about pistachios and poison ivy. Lydia is creative and a doctor. Maybe we should ask her!
Lydia - Whew! Thanks for the Kindle info.
Terry - I read about the new Nook. I'd like an ereader that also lets me access the internet, do email, AND write. I don't know if that will ever happen unless I download Kindle to a laptop.
Holly - I really like most places. However, I've visited and lived in some that I'd just as soon never see again for one reason or another. I'm glad to know you like your Kindle. I've never heard anyone say they were disappointed.
Laura - Are you sure you like your Kindle - LOL! Thanks. I never thought about living aboard a cruise ship, but options are good. I like options :)
I don't have an e-reader but my brother had the Nook and loves it :)
City for me currently...I am a city girl but I actually prefer small towns I think. Maybe a small mountain town (that isn't over-glamorized) when I'm older.
Mountains for me-I'm a Colorado girl!!! Can't wait for ski season!
Although the beach is gorgeous to visit on vacation.
I have an iPad. It's far more than just an eReader - I liken it to an iPhone/iTouch on steroids. You can listen to music, watch movies, store photos, play games, write your book - you name it! And there's an ap for both Kindle and Nook so you can read their books as well as those from the iBookstore. It's worth the extra investment!
I live in a small city and would love to vacation in a large one. Mountains in the fall and winter. And the summer. Beach in the fall, winter and early summer.
I don't have an ereader. I would love to have one if it would hook up with wireless routers without needing a password!
Haley Sue - I love the energy of cities, and the friendliness of small towns. I've never really lived in the country, although I felt as if I did the first time I lived in a small town. I grew up by water, so beaches do it for me more than mountains, but I like them, too.
Alex - I'm going to email you, because I have questions about the IPad I think you can answer.
Aubrie - I don't have a lot of book storage space, so I think it would be nice to have more available on a reader.
Words Crafter - I don't know if I'm allergic to poison ivy or not. I know my mother was and my nephew is.
I don’t have an eReader. Haven't wanted one...yet.
I now live where I like to vacation - a year round warm sunny place near beaches.
No e-reader for me. Ever.
BEACH is my happy place. But I like mountains and lakes too. I like cities and countryside. If I had my way and hit the big game, I'd have houses and condos all over the world in various locations. I'd visit to suit my mood.
I'm craving pistachios now...off to hunt the pantry!
As for your questions, I just got my Kindle on Monday and I just love it. I think I'll do a post about it on Sunday.
CD
Lola - I'm running out of book space. So with a reader, I don't have to worry where to keep the books I like. I usually donate others to the library, so I would no longer be able to do so with a reader. My jury is still out, but I'm becoming interested. I like your dream for 'when it happens'. Me, too.
Clarissa - I'll look forward to reading it.
I love mountains AND ocean--when I lived in Portland and had access to both, I would have told you ocean won, but living in Michigan where I have neither, it is the mountains I miss.
Love pistachios. Related to poison ivy? Wow. The things one learns by blogging...!!!)
My daughter was touched by everyone's comments on her Halloween drawings. Thanks for yours. I really like the witch, too!
ereader: I have the SONY ereader and an IPad. But I haven't used the IPad for books yet. However, if I had to do it over again, I think I'd get the Nook.
I'm a small town, beach person. :)
Ann - I almost said the cat with emerald eyes, but the witch had humor and more personality. Don't you wish they'd let us know things about future incarnations of products - LOL.
Jennifer - Ooh, I'm taking it you knew you were allergic to one but not the other. I have a drug allergy and didn't know I couldn't take a product related to it ... until I did.

Tossing It Out
Don't have an e-reader gadget yet, but I downloaded the free Kindle app for my PC and am trying that out. I have it on both my desktop and my laptop. If I decide I like reading that way (and I already know I like the book prices), I may get an e-reader for Christmas.
I used to live in Florida, but now I'm in Colorado and loving the weather better here. But I enjoy a vacation by the ocean. I love the sounds.
I love mountains, but they don't move or crash against the shore ... unless it's bad news for them. I enjoy visiting them, but the ocean holds my heart.
