I love food lists... :) Happy weekend!
I haven't heard of frito pie or Kolaches, but they sound good anyway!
Joanne - They are delish :)
VR - You might be surprised. Many of the early immigrants to Texas came from Germany, Poland, and Czechoslovakia, so there's a lot of that culture here. I prefer the fruit ones. Or the poppy seed ones.
Laura - Frito Pie...Fritos, chili, onions, cheese. Unhealthy and yummy, all in one bite!
Mason - I love good brisket, too. Your friend has probably learned to make her own chili. Or uses Wolf Brand.
I love chili!

Here is Southeast Kansas, we're known for our fried chicken, there was even an episode on the tv show Food Wars about our chicken.
I'm still discovering what Colorado food is. A lot of Mexican influence, and a lot of bison.

Linda - Come visit! I love good fried chicken. Showing vs. telling, LOL.
Terry - Good for her! Now people know what she meant.
Helen - Lunch is just around the corner.
Kolaches? Okay, gotta google that one...
I always get some of those red-coloered sugary peanut patties. Texas is the only place I've seen them. I was thinking they are called "Pecos Patties" but I'm not real sure. If I see them whenever I stop for gas, I usually pick one up.

Just saw a recipe for lentil chili. Not sure how that would taste. Needs the beef and pork to be real Texas chili.
Arlee - Yes, check them out. The fruit ones. Live-In Handyman loves those peanut patties. Me? Not so much.
Maryann - I'm a Native Texan and I never ate cornbread with sugar until I was grown and lived in Virginia. You must live in East Texas :)
Talli - Chicken fried steak is a beef cutlet cooked almost like a schnitzel and served with white gravy.
Alex - You bet. It has a little salt, but isn't salty or sweet.
Holly - Very yum :)
Summer - Dinner's coming :)
Jane - Hope you find one in your area...or you might have to cook!
Tex-Mex -- nothing like the real deal!
RaShelle - Enjoy your chili!
notesfromnadir - Not in the southeast. Love Tex-Mex.
