Love it! Sounds like my house!

11. The kids barely make the bus

Ahhh, until the kids go away to college. The only way I know school has started anymore is whether I hear the bus go by in the morning!

Mason - I'm not surprised.

Melissa - You're not alone.

Colette - Yes!

Or if you're a writer with no kids, the school bus wakes you up struggling to climb the hill outside your bedroom window. ;)

Have a perfect weekend!

LOL What a great list and so very true to my own home at the moment.

Brings back memories, and a huge sense of relief that I'm beyond those days! Loved the lonely dog.

P.S. I'll be in Austin this weekend, much closer to you, so I'll think of you! Have a great weekend.

Happy Friday, Carol!
I know school started because traffic is so heavy in the morning. And, because I see kids wearing uniforms everywhere I go. ;)
Carol Kilgore said…
VR - I know your weekend will be perfect. The school bus wakes the doggies in the afternoons.

Summer - It's that time of year.

Kathy - Have fun in Austin. It's an hour up the Interstate from us. It's still hot here - low 90s - and still a bit humid from the recent storm. Be prepared :)

Claudia - Oh yeah. Traffic doubles.

Great list--the way I know the kids are going to school is when Puck the Puppy has a hissy fit as they go by.

Isn't life great!? *sigh* sometimes I wish I was my husband and worked outside the house and came home and did nothing!

Guess what? When the kids grow up and leave...coffee is heaven all morning long! Unfortunately, you miss the other things.
Aubrie said…
Very funny! I have those days when I look at my wardrobe and think I have nothing to wear!
Carol Kilgore said…
Conda - Arf pitches a hissy fit, too.

Clarissa - Wouldn't that be wonderful!

Helen - If you say so :)

Aubrie - Hmmm...when I don't do laundry - LOL.

wonderful.
oh and weekends go back to meaning something...

LOL,this brings back memories. When my kids went back to school each year, I never knew for sure who was happiest, me or the cats.

Ah, the memories...can't say I miss those days. :) The dog does the wander and plop thing everytime my husband goes to work.

These days are pow for me.

And I miss them!

These are all very true - but in my house I have a cat which stares accusingly out of the window at us as we walk to the car. He hasn't forgiven us for going on vacation and he still views every departure as a personal betrayal.
Carol Kilgore said…
Jan - Ah, weekends :)

Maryann - Probably the cats.

Laura - I think it's the perimeter check.

Patti - Each part of life has it's own particular joys, I think. I have a t-shirt that says Love the Life You Live.

Elspeth - I'm LOL for real. I'd love to meet that cat.

This is one of your best lists yet!
Loved the list, especially the dog and cat ones. My grown up cat will hide until my husband comes home most of the time. But if I'm really tired and go take a nap, she'll come lay in the bend of my knees. The kitten...she's pretty much everywhere.

My mom used to lament the fact that Monday through Friday, she would have to threaten bodily harm to get us out of bed. Then, on Saturdays, we'd be up at 6am to watch Scooby Doo!!!!
Poor pets! Thanks, ten more reasons why I don't want kids.
Carol Kilgore said…
Holly - Wow. Thanks :)

Words Crafter - Cats are like that.

Alex - But those little hugs are so sweet.

Kathi - Thanks, Kathi.

I've only got two little ones, but the afternoon is currently heaven - the older one's in kindergarton! Yay!

Wait now... is it wrong that that makes me happy? It's just that, when it comes to my boys, one kid plus one kid equals fifteen hands!

Nice to meet you! :)
Carol Kilgore said…
DL - I'll just say that one dog plus one dog equals at least four dogs.

Manzanita - Your comment somehow ended up in my moderation box (only for posts older than three days). I approved it and it showed up in the earlier post about patience. I answered it there. Blogger is at it again, it seems :)

I have four kids, so I can tell school has started when the house is quiet and I wander from room to room wondering what kept me so busy over the summer:0)
Talei said…
Oh I wish my dog would plop at my feet...he just bounces about the place.

Have a lovely weekend!
Carol Kilgore said…
Cinette - Wait until the weekend - then you'll remember.

Talei - I have one that either bounces or plops - no in between.

It'll be awhile before my kids are old enough for school... should I look forward to it or not?
Carol Kilgore said…
Yes! The closer they get to that point, the more you'll look forward to it.

Hopefully not tomorrow as in the day after that post. ;-) So very true. Although my favorite way of telling isn't on there. When you bring your toddler to the park during the week it isn't crowded. :D
Carol Kilgore said…
True. And true. Sometimes uncrowded parks freak me out a little. Too Hitchcockian.
