This is a SHORT post!

Why?

Because here in the U.S., Thursday is Thanksgiving.

It doesn't much matter whether you're having four or forty for dinner, the preparation is the same.

First the house has to be ready. For those of you who are writers, you know that's easier said than done.

Then there's food.

Our gathering will be small this year. Some family will arrive on Wednesday. Others will be here on Thursday only.

What with one thing and another, it's doubtful I'll actually be making three meals a day from Wednesday through Sunday for the in-house bunch, but I have to be prepared for that possibility.

As you can see, I'm going to be a little busy. I'll do my best to respond and return all comments, but it may be the weekend before I get there.

I'm sure many of you will be just as busy. No one has time to read a long rambling treatise--especially when there's pumpkin pie on the horizon!

I also want to remind you that Sunday will be the last day to enter the contest on my website. November's giveaway is by Jan Christensen: a signed copy of PERFECT VICTIM plus a gorgeous bookmark handcrafted by the author. Just click the WIN button at the top of the right sidebar and complete the entry form. Easy!

HAPPY
THANKSGIVING!

Happy Thanksgiving! We won't be cooking at home, for which I'm grateful, and I'll be off the grid for a while.
It's a busy time, for sure! Happy Thanksgiving, Carol.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm cooking for friends this year. I don't eat the turkey but I do get to make him dance across the counter before I stuff him.

I can take or leave turkey and pumpkin pie (preferably leave), but giving thanks? That's something I can get on board with.

Happy Thanksgiving, Carol!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Carol. I know having it with family will make it special.
Happy Thanksgiving. The important things WILL get done. Really they will (and if they don't - they weren't important).

I think it will just be Willy Dunne Wooters and me on Thanksgiving. I've already grocery shopped, and the house is reasonably clean. WDW will help me hoist the turkey into the oven. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Love,
Janie

I hope everything goes smoothly and you don't have to do 3 meals a day. And no power outage....as it happened to me one year, just as I put the turkey in.
Have a good time.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Carol!

Happy Thanksgiving, Carol! I completely understand what you are going through. Thankfully, we are eating at my stepdad's house this year so we don't have to worry about the cooking or cleaning. This can wait until after we return on Friday.
I hope you have a wonderful time and make splendid new memories with your family and friends.

Have a great Thanksgiving and a wonderful time with family and friends. And afterwards may your home, like mine, clean itself.

Happy Thanksgiving. I kinda miss it, now that I live in London. Don't miss the prep and dishes, though.

Beer - I'm looking forward to family, too.

Holly - :)

Yvonne - Wear sweats on Thursday in commiseration of all our overstuffed bellies :)

Jan - Yes! I'm happy you recently spent time with yours.

EC - I think I'll put your words up on my fridge so I can keep the thought reinforced.

Oh man! I hear you on the crazy, though if we were having people stay here, it would be infinitely more insane. It's only going to be a couple years and we'll be in that position--with all the kids coming back to visit... I'm getting old. =)

Manzanita - Thank you for the good wishes! I would freak with a power outage. One year, though, something was wrong with the oven. It took almost eight hours for the turkey to cook.

Julie - Thanks! I wish the same for you and your family.

Lynda - Thanks. We'll make you an honorary American on Thursday :)

Clarissa - Pier One has really neat stuff :)

Gina - Lucky you! Except I do get leftovers and turkey sandwiches :) Happy Thanksgiving!

Hart - This extra down time was worth all the cleaning, prep, and cooking :)

Rachna - Thanks! It was awesome :)

Crystal - You're pregnant, so definitely not old, LOL!

Teresa - Hope your gobble-gobble was good :)

Hi Carol,

Yep, finally, I have got here. I've no doubt you are all turkeyed out. Thanksgiving US, style, y'all :)

Thank you for not posting a long, rambling article. Phew!

Seems I missed out on the contest. Time zones, eh.

I'm outta' here....
