A-Z Solomon's Compass Style: Glen Upchurch

Welcome A-Z bloggers!
And everyone else, of course :)
My A-Z posts are all about my new book, SOLOMON'S COMPASS.
Read the A post to learn who AJ is.

Glen Upchurch here. Detective, Rock Harbor Police. Pleased to meet you.

I knew Taylor Campbell's uncle, Randy Rankin. He was a good man, and the town lost a lot the day he died.

If Taylor hadn't come to town to make arrangements for his business, I doubt we would have ever known he was murdered. Nothing tipped off the medical examiner to do more than a cursory autopsy.

Killers that cunning don't come along every day. Most are sloppy or stupid. Or both. I'm thankful for that or finding most of them would be much harder.

Meeting Taylor was a pleasure. She's sharp and quick, but she can be awfully stubborn. All in all, I'm looking forward to her next visit.

As for Jake Solomon ... I wasn't so sure about him at first. We could have ended up on opposite sides of the interrogation table if he hadn't decided to do a little sharing when he did.

Gotta run. Rock Harbor may be a small town, but if it was perfect, I'd be out of a job.

Carol's blogging with Jennifer Shirk today at Me, My Muse and I. I think she said it was an interview, but I was on the phone with a witness when she told me, and I wasn't paying close attention. Whatever she's talking about over there, y'all enjoy!

Hmm... interesting stuff. So did Taylor figure out about the murder by herself, or was it more indirect the way her arrival led to the police finding out?
Small towns can definitely make for murder! People get on each other's nerves more. :)

Pick up a coffee and donut for me while you're out there lol.
Glen Upchurch sounds rock solid.

kelworthfiles - You can find out by reading the book :)

Alex - Very good.

Elizabeth aka Riley - Ah, you must live in one, too.

Jennifer - Carol just texted me and said she's having fun over there.

Delores - I'm more into breakfast tacos, but we do have a good donut shop here.

Teresa - Thank you, ma'am.

Hmm. Solid American hero first name. Last name tinged with religious overtones, and works in a profession and in a city with a name bursting with tough guy vibes.

I like how you're introducing the main characters here via fringe characters.

Sounds like a town where everyone knows everyone. That makes for a nice thick plot.

A detective's job is never done.
Is Detective Upchurch taken up by Taylor? Me wonders...

Kim - I asked Carol about this. She said: Most all of these characters came to me complete with names. I changed the last name of one because I could never remember the name he told me. So I figured he lied. That one is Will Knox. And I don't recall his original last name without going back to my notes.

Melanie - Thanks! We're having fun. You'll meet more of us this week.

Nick - Most of us have lived there forever. Or at least for many years.

Joy - Someone who understands!

Michelle - You'll have to read to find out.

Super idea for the A-Z! I can get acquainted with your characters.

Just peeked at the first pages of your book and it sounds great . . . I've put it on my wishlist.

It took me going back several posts to figure out your theme for the A to Z. These are all characters from your new book, right??? If that is wrong, I am sooo confused. Thanks for visiting my blog and following along. I look forward to more insights here...

Small towns are really dangerous. Rock Harbor is lucky to have someone as stand-up as Glen.

Love being re-introduced to these great characters!

Cathy - Thank you, Cathy. Carol loves followers. I'm sure she'll be along to your blog before too long.

LD - We all do know how to fish. Just sayin'.

Christine - With a shrimp wiggling around on it, too :)

Shelley - Yes, ma'am. Most of us law enforcement officers are the same.

Robin - Correct. I'm AJ. We're all characters from Carol's new book, Solomon's Compass. If the post isn't from a particular character, it's usually from me telling you something about a place or thing in the story. Happy to see you here.

Susan - Carol spent some time with her local PD to learn how we are.

Linda G - And we are ALL characters!

VR - Thank you. Much appreciated. You'll be meeting the rest of us as we go along.

I like Glen's voice -- this sounds like a guy who knows how to tell an honest story. And what a clever way to refer to Jake and Taylor!
Welcome Glen - I am pleased to make your acquaintance.

Such a wonderful way to bring the suckers (me) in. Each character you introduce is filling me with more greed. Clever, clever, clever.

Clarissa - Wonderful! Will pass on to Carol.

Connie - Carol will be around to your blog.

Helena - Pleasure to meet you. You know how detectives are :)

EC - Good to meet you, too. Just sharing things as I know them :)
