Summer's Story

Hi,

My name is Summer Newcombe. Carol asked me to post here today because she's over at Mason Canyon's blog, Thoughts in Progress.

I'm supposed to introduce myself to you and not be too wordy about it. When you read IN NAME ONLY, you'll learn all about me, so that's not too important. I can tell you that Summer Newcombe isn't my real name. It's the name the U.S. Marshals gave me when they brought me to Padre Island.

Come closer.

What's really important is that I have a secret to tell you. It's sort of about me, but it's really about Carol. In her frenzy of telling you about IN NAME ONLY and getting it put together for you to read, a strange thing occurred.

Carol forgot to tell you about NEVER SAY MY NAME. And she's going to be embarrassed when she learns I told you. But she can handle it okay. She's like that.

NEVER SAY MY NAME is a short story that explains the predicament that got me into the mess with the Federal Witness Security Program to begin with. It's where I first met Carol. And no, I don't have the crazy Witness Protection t-shirt she showed you a few weeks ago. She was messing with you. She's like that, too.

Now I'm going jogging on the beach. I'll be back later to answer your comments.

When you go say hi to Carol at Thoughts in Progress, please don't tell her I told you about NEVER SAY MY NAME. It can stay our secret, and I'll tell her over a beer and a plate of my brownies tonight.

Oh...there's an added surprise at the end.

See you in the book!

Summer

NEVER SAY MY NAME is available at Amazon in Kindle format only for US$0.99.

You've been holding out on us! I love backstories and prequels. Sold!
Summer, tell Carol I've heard about the short story prelude. Brilliant.

Also, what's your real name? What? You can't remember. Uh huh.

Oh, I wondered how she got into the WPP. The story started with the fire and it told us she was in WP but never why. Awesome, Summer, thanks for the heads up.

I tried to download but I'm having issues with downloading. I'm on vacation at parents house, and a storm hit. We just managed to get internet back. We'll see how long that lasts. I'll try again in the morning. If not, I'll be home Monday night. I'm looking forward to you being on my blog Monday!!!!

LR - Stop by Carol's house tonight. We'll share.

Jan - That day at Lake Tahoe was harrowing. I'm happy something good has come from it.

Julie - Not a problem. It's been a hopping time Under the Tiki Hut.

Cynthia - Nice to meet you, too. Yes, it's a great combination. You'll meet Charlie in the book. He's to blame for getting us all hooked on the combination.

Alex - Never Say My Name is a short story. But there is a bonus at the end.

Don't you love a character who can't keep a secret?

Never Say My Name. Hmmmmm.
Carol Kilgore said…
Morgan - Just to clarify, IN NAME ONLY is the novel. The mini-prequel short story is NEVER SAY MY NAME. Intrigued is good :)

Yvonne - One book. One short story. The short story is for Kindle only.

Clarissa - The bare bones of the incident comes out throughout the novel. The short story takes you up close and personal.

Ciara - Carol is looking forward to being on your blog. She wondered if she would meet a demon over there. Or an angel.

LD - Usually I don't have trouble. But after being in the WitSec program for five years, I'm tired of keeping secrets. I had to spill the beans. Carol will understand.

Thanks for the heads up, Summer! Enjoy your run on the beach.
Carol Kilgore said…
Christine - The run was wonderful. The tide was out, and a barely-there drizzle was falling.
