Friday's Top Ten

Top ten things I learned from my dogs:

10. The pack leader stands tall and maintains control

  9. Live in the moment

  8. Play time is absolutely necessary

  7. So is family time

  6. Be honest and fair

  5. Praise others for jobs well done

  4. Don't bite the hand that feeds you

  3. Barking accomplishes nothing

  2. Never underestimate the accuracy of the Sniff Test

And the #1 thing I learned from my dogs:

  1. Wag your tail when you're happy

Love 'em! # 2 has to be my favorite!

We have much to learn from our amazing canine friends. Happy Friday Carol :)

Good list Carol. I'd add one from our "yellow buffalo":

Value all work and pretend you are not embarrassed by the goofy human following you around scooping up your waste.

I like the play time. Will be doing lots of that this weekend!

I think they are the superior species. :-) Love #3. Happy weekend, Carol!

They also know how to work for treats. :D

Have a great weekend. My spoiled lap dog and I will be curled up on the couch avoiding the snow.

Number 2 cracked me up!

Play time is absolutely necessary! Agreed.

Yes, the dogs know what's really important!

Aww, I love #1. #10 is the one I have quite a bit of trouble with. I am not a good pack leader! :D

Have a great weekend!

Alex - I agree!

Linda G - Smart enough to make us work for them :)

Linda K - It's their favorite thing.

Joanne - We certainly do.

Slamdunk - Funny!

I always adore your Friday's Top Ten, but I really loved this one! I'm wagging my tail!

Love #2! Have a great weekend and wag often. :)

Stephen - Good for you!

Tracy Jo - I think so, too.

Luanne - One of ours will literally do anything asked if he thinks there's food involved.

Jennifer - Makes me glad I'm not a dog :)

LR - That's what I think!
Carol Kilgore said…
Elspeth - Thank you.

Southpaw - And what better time to play than the weekend :)

Jenny - Love your avatar! Thanks for commenting.

Julie - One of my dogs is VERY loud. I learned that standing tall with a stern look and either crossing my arms or pointing a finger while speaking in a quiet voice works wonders.
Great list, they say it's a dog's life.

Yvonne.
Carol Kilgore said…
Conda - I'd like to see that :)

Laura - Thanks! You, too :)

Yvonne - I've heard that :)

Don't bite the hand that feeds you!! How can I teach this to my son???
Awesome! Love Fridays because of posts like yours.
This is sweet. Good to know because we're getting a dog this summer. I've never had a dog before--should be interesting.
Carol Kilgore said…
Mary - Very carefully :)

Melissa - Woof!

Theresa - You will have a learning curve. But it will be worth it. Research different breeds. That way, even if you adopt you'll have some idea of overall temperament.

You gotta love those dogs. I know we do.
Carol Kilgore said…
Rick - Yep. And they love in return.

These are all good life lessons- so dogs definitely know how to live right!
Carol Kilgore said…
Nas - They follow the canine honor system.

Love this Top 10 List. Amazing what we can learn from dogs.
Carol Kilgore said…
Clarissa - Arf. Arf-arf. Arf-arf-arf. Oh. Sorry :)

Helen - A lot more than made this list, for sure.
Everything on this list can be applied to raising kids; though the tail wagging is optional! Julie

Julie - LOL, I get that totally. My dogs are like having two pre-K kids around.
Lydia Kang said…
Aw, this was a cute top 10!

It is amazing how much we are like dogs and how much we can learn from them. This was a cute post.
