Something for Everyone

I don't know about anyone else, but this has been a busy summer for me. Now that the middle of August is right around the corner, I feel the need to start straightening up the blog and getting squared away to start writing on my new project in the fall.

Guest Bloggers
Initially, our guest bloggers were supposed to run through the end of August. However, I received such a great response that they're actually running through the official end of summer, September 21. It's thanks to all of you for giving them such great support for their imaginative posts. Give yourselves a loud round of applause. I've made a lot of new friends, and I hope you have, too.

Unplugging
But not for awhile. I will be unplugging here the last week of September and the first week of October to give myself a jump start on my new WIP. You'll survive without the cabana boys for two weeks :)

How To Spice Up Fall
All of you were such a great help in making summer special that I'm calling on you again for help with what to do for Tiki Wednesdays this autumn . Do you want guest bloggers again? They were the overwhelming winner back in the spring. Or are you ready for a change? You tell me. Whatever we decide will begin on Wednesday, October 12, and run through the end of 2011. If you want guest bloggers again, do you want them to blog to a different theme from the summer one? Answer a few identical interview questions? Totally open? Be specific about guest bloggers or different ideas. If you don't tell me, I don't know. Remember ... it's all about you!

Award Season
Last week, Savannah Foxx presented me with the Irresistibly Sweet Award. Savannah has great photos in her post about this. Go see hers, because I don't have any - LOL. I'm supposed to list seven sweet things I can't resist. Most of you know I don't have a huge sweet tooth, but I didn't have much trouble coming up with seven, besides those luscious strawberries pictured in the award.

Topping the list:
1. Live-In Handyman

2. Fudge
3. Lemon Bars
4. Fresh Peaches
5. Brownies
6. Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
7. Shortbread Cookies

Ta-Da! How easy was that?

Because I'm bribing thanking all of you for helping me out with Tiki Wednesdays, feel free to take this award and embrace it as your own.

Yum. Brownies! Congrats on the award!

That's a pretty sweet list for someone who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth. I love it! :)

Oh, and can't you leave the cabana boys to amuse us while you take your blogging break? ;)

I can't believe the summer is nearly over! I agree, it's been a crazy one. As you know I loved being one of your guests, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the entries. Wonderful that you had such a great response!

Congratulations on the award. You've made me very hungry for brownies now! :D

Talli - Same here, to everything.

Linda K. - Thanks.

Liz - With walnuts and fudge icing :)

Linda G. - I'll check with them, LOL.

Julie - I've loved all the guest posts, too.

So much wonderful stuff. I have no idea what to tell you about the fall but I'm sure whatever you come up with will be fabulous.

Good luck on getting everything squared away!

It's hard to believe fall is right around the corner. Sigh. I say continue with the guest bloggers - one less post for you to write! Of course, that's just the way I would look at it if I were hosting guest bloggers. Hmmm....
The guest bloggers were funny. I'd say mix up the theme a bit. Unfortunatly I don't have any ideas for you!

Congrats on the award. Well deserved. The guest bloggers were fun to read and I'm sure whatever you decide on for the fall will be just as wonderful. Hope you get a lot done during your 2 weeks, but remember to have a little fun too.

It's NUTs how time flies. And I think you're doing a great job. I like to do the periodic revamp and then forget to follow through...

(I share your sweet tooth...)

Mmm, lemon bars...

Sorry, distracted there for a moment.

Loved the guest bloggers, love the regular Tiki. I think the idea of having guests answer a set of identical interview questions is fun, although coming up with the right series of questions might be a challenge.

You've triggered my sweet tooth! Hmmm...I'm thinking Creme Brulee, Flan (anything caramel in fact), blueberry pie, all french pastries (although I can't eat them anymore bc of going gluten/dairy free). I make GF/DF versions of any sweet I can, LOL.

As for the fall blog, I can't think of anything right now. I can't wait to see what you come up with though!
Carol Kilgore said…
Clarissa - You're no help - LOL :)

Lydia - Thanks.

Elspeth - There is that :)

Alex - Gotcha.

Mason - Yes, ma'am!

Hart - I agree. I make lists. Lots of lists.

VR - It's something I've been thinking about. Funny but informative and not difficult. Haven't come up with anything yet - LOL.

Rula - Good for you!

Congratulations on the award! :)

Good luck with your WIP.

Guest bloggers sound good to me!

You are not kidding. Summer has been insane. :)

You got it together pretty good it seems. The guest bloggers on Wednesdays works pretty good, but maybe different themes might keep things fresher.

Time is whizzing by us it seems.

Good luck on your WIP and congrats on your award. I also have a very big sweet tooth.
Carol Kilgore said…
Did you all think I went belly up? Not me, but my internet connection did. I'm back now, and all is well. Yea!

Golden Eagle - Thanks for the input and your good wishes. This is the first manuscript I've ever plotted in advance.

Ciara - I've heard that from a lot of people.

Arlee - Thanks. I'm getting great input from everyone!

Janet - I really don't have a sweet tooth. I like all those things I listed, but I'd much rather snack on chips and salsa or peanuts. Salty and savory are more my speed.

I'm seeing a marvelous list. By the way, I hope that fudge has walnuts in it. One needs protein w/ their chocolate & sugar! :)
Carol Kilgore said…
Lisa - I'm all about protein :)
Great list starting with the live-in handyman, and throwing in a few of my favorites like brownies and fudge! Congratulations and thanks for following me! Julie

I agree with Talli. Summer's goin' by way too fast!
Carol Kilgore said…
Julie - He's the one I absolutely can't resist :)

LR - I agree, too.
ACK! I don't even want to think about fall yet. I know it's the second week of August already, but I so love summer. In the next few weeks I'll be slipping into cooler weather denial and cursing the shorter days.

Hi Carol

How about you answering questions from your own perspective. Of course, set some limits on how personal the questions can be.
Carol Kilgore said…
Cynthia - I'm already noticing the shorter days. I don't like that either.

Glynis - There'll be time enough for that when I have a book to promote :)

Yum to homemade vanilla ice cream!!!

Finally catching up with you, sorry, been a bit unplugged myself.

I loved reading the guest blogs (as well as being a guest myself) and marveled at the different takes on one scenario.

Your Tiki Hut rocks!
Carol Kilgore said…
I'm blushing, Savannah. Thank you. I need ice cream :)
