Awards and a Yell for Help

Sometime since I made my last awards post, a couple of bloggers put awards up for grabs.

The Words Crafter at The Rainy Day Wanderer offered this one:
"So I want all of you to have it. This isn't about being lazy. It's about how much I love to read what you write. Honestly. I'm going to make my way around throughout the day and leave a comment confirming it."

And she did.
I'm passing this award to anyone currently drafting a new manuscript or editing a WiP.

You know who you are. Take it ... it's yours ... and well deserved.

And Medeia Sharif presented four choices to people who commented on her previous post, and I was one of those commenters. I already had two of the choices, and the third involved a lot of work. My selection was the easy, citrusy way out :)

This citrusy award goes to anyone who lives in a state that grows citrus OR anyone who likes the citrusy color palette OR anyone who likes any citrus product. Froot Loops don't count :)

You might have noticed I've finally gotten off my duff and actually made a blog page. It's for blog awards and gets them off this page so maybe it will load faster.

I'm wanting to do some more things with pages, but I'm a bit of a techie idiot. If anyone would be willing to answer a couple of questions, please leave your email in the comments and I'll get in touch.

Have an award-winning day!

Fruit loops don't count? Oh man. I was so close. So close.

Congrats on your awards! No way anyone in NH grows citrus anything. It's too cold for too long!

But I do have a WIP....

Yes, I read about unclogging one's blog so it'll load faster. I did what you did: made a separate page for awards. I doubt that I know anymore about pages than you do, but it doesn't hurt to ask. annbest37@yahoo.com. If I don't know, I'll say so!!

Wow, a whole latte awards going on over here! Congrats ... I like the idea of a separate page to list them on, but am not tech-savvy so can't offer you any other tech assistance :/

Cute awards, Carol. Like you, I needed to do something with mine. I put mine in a slideshow in the sidebar. I don't know if that still slows down the loading or not, though.

I did the separate page thing awhile back. I do think it speeds up the page load, which is great. But it hasn't done anything to keep me from sitting on awards for far too long.

Happy Whisk - Darn!

Aubrie - Cool :)

Ann - I'll be in touch.

Joanne - Wouldn't it be nice to know it all...LOL.

Helen - I didn't think about a slideshow :(

VR - I try not to sit on them, but sometimes life makes other plans.

Congrats on your awards and the passing on of same. I am the world's worst at doing this, so I congratulate you even more.

LOL, congrats on your awards! I will snatch the write hard one because I need to, to finish my wip!

I used to live in a citrus state and who doesn’t love lemon yellow or that taste of pink grapefruit. I’ll answer what I can just use my contact form in my profile.
Someone gave me that awesome fist award and I can't remember who it was! If I don't pass out the awards within a few days of getting them, I forget.

I figured out how to do pages, so if you have questions, I might be able to help. Since you have one, you're 3/4 of the way there.

To foil the 'bots', my email contact info is at my blog and website.

Congrats on all the awards, Carol! I like the citrusy one. I could use some of that right about now!

Congrats on the awards. I've had to take the awards off my page too because they're so slowing.
Carol Kilgore said…
Elspeth - Thanks. It's kinda fun.

Hannah - Great!

Holly - I love citrus colors. And I'll find your form.

Karen - I add it to my list or I would, too. Eventually it works its way to the top.

Terry - I'll find your addy.

Talli - Great...it's yours. And chock full of Vitamin C, too!

Clarissa - Exactly. Crossed comments :)

Nice awards, and I am glad you asked about how to get them off the main blog page. I need to do that, too. I noted that Helen Ginger made the slide show on her blog. Also noted several authors have put all their book covers in a widget that rotates them. That is all beyond my technical expertise. So I think Terry is going to be hit hard by requests for help.

Carol,
I used to make website templates. It's been a few years but I have most of the graphic gear still. And if you're making a page at blogspot, that makes it even easier. I'll help if what I know works for you.

I adore citrus in food. Like salsa, and ceviche, and...yum.
Wow, I didn't think about blog awards slowing down the page loading. Good idea!

Congratulations on the awards. Hope you'll share what you learn about pages with the rest of us non-technical people.

Maryann - I think what I wanted to do can't be done. Maybe Blogger will rectify that in the future.

Glynis - I'm pretty sure what I want can't be done yet, but thanks for the offer.

Lydia - You're a Citrusy Blogger! Graphics files are larger than text ones.

Mason - Sadly, I learned Blogger can't [yet] do what I wanted. Sigh.

Hi Carol - you stopped by a while ago, and I just wanted to return the favor and say HI! I'm not a writer, more of a "palaverer" (haha- look that one up!) and I guess I'm citrusy - LOVE me some big ole grapefruit from the Rio Grande valley! They've been so good lately! I'm enjoying my reading here today!

Well both these awards apply to me too, so thanks! ;)

Congrats on the awards! I snagged the Write Hard, since I'm writing a new MS. Now to quit sitting on them...
I put my awards on a separate page too. It seems to work out better.
Carol Kilgore said…
Vickie - So you like to tell stories rather than write them down. It's all good. Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you again.

LR - Very good!

Laura - So far I'm liking it. Write Hard on that new manuscript.

I've had a separate award page for a while now, but I've been very slow in putting the awards there. Alas.

Arlee - The longer I wait, the more chance I'll forget. Especially if I don't put it on my to do list.

What a great way to solve the blog award problem! It's always a bit of a burden to give an award (KarenG, I think I gave you that one.) There are usually strings attached about answering questions and passing it on--like those chain emails that you must send to your 20 closest friends in 20 seconds or have 20 years of bad luck. This is an elegant solution.

I, too have moved my awards to a separate page after getting some negative comments. Another good solution. Some of them are very pretty, but slowing the load sends readers away.

Hi Anne!

Thanks for stopping by the Tiki Hut, commenting, and following :)

Some awards do take a LONG time. These two are task free!

Thanks Carol. I'm taking the Write Hard award. How cool. Thanks for sharing.
Carol Kilgore said…
Great! Keep going on that project, and Write Hard.
